I'm trying to find a student loan, but since I have no credit, I guess I need a cosigner. My parents don't live together, and my mom claims me on her taxes. Her credit isn't great, so she can't co-sign. Can my dad co-sign on a private loan?

It is worth a try in approaching your dad to co-sign the private loan. I also recommend also trying for a work study job on campus which could be used on the resume in the future. However, I also recommend trying applying for private scholarships and grants offered by companies. Your college possibly lists some of them on their financial aid website. Also, there are free membership scholarship websites which I have listed below.

If this is a financial aid question why do you need to co-sign for a loan, FA is funded by the state.

Yes, he can. But check into other forms of student aid, first. Check with fastweb.com and see also if there is a group in your area that assists with FAFSA online, such as TRIO. Don't make that your first plan to pay for school. Research grants, scholarships and work study first.
