My man and I have been in a relationship for over a year. Most of the time when we go out we'll split the bill, or when we go out, he will expect me to buy him a drink or two if he buys me the same. Sometimes we also take turns buying each other dinner or lunch. Is this something expected in relationships now days, or is my man just cheap.

I'd say he's cheap. Try talking to him to get his thoughts on it. Maybe he's thinking you might be offended, women's lib and all.

I think that in a committed relationship or any relationship a man should pay,i think some things need to be 50/50 but not alll things a man who really cares would pay to show that he does.Your boyfriend is cheap and inconsiderate in today society lots of men still make more money then womene so they should still foot the bill.

I think its a great idea and he is far from cheap. Many women are saying they are independant but won't even touch a check when it comes to the table. So I agree with guys if we as women are saying this then at least pay half of the amount with him. Don't get all coy and flaky when it comes to matters of money. Cuz I really believe this pisses guys off. Though they are usually too nice to admit that they get mad about always paying the bill. Keep up what you guys are doing. If you look at everything as 50/50 really shouldn't effect your lives down the road.

Well you have been dating him for over a year now.. It all depends on how he acted the first couple of months. If he has been doing this from the beginning i would say he is cheap. But its been a while now and its nice to split things if you are both okay with it

It depends on the couple. If both of them don't think that as a problem, than it's not. Looks like you think that's a problem. Man usually wants to take care of his girl, and girls would prefer men who could take care of them. As an independent woman with own income, I think it's fair to buy each other dinner. But my man would prefer if he takes care of me (by paying for my meals), and I appreciate him for that. So.. you need to think if this kind of man is a problem to you or not. Don't look at other couples, it's what you feel right or wrong that counts.

CHEAP! How can a man treat you this way? Sorry, more importantly, how can you allow a man to treat you this way? Either he has to brush up his act or you have to brush him away.
