Technically, they rioted because any depiction of Mohammed is forbiden because people will start worshiping the picture of Mohammed instead of his idealogy and that's what they want to prevent. The only problem is, they used to have lots of paintings/drawings of him in Muslim books and they never rioted over that. They're just probably scared that the West is starting a crusade and they just react quickly at acts of "provocation".

You will find, that only the "radicals" and terrorists are the ones that rioted over the cartoon.

Others in Islam, weren't happy about it, as your not supposed to make any pictures of thier Prophet, but, thats as far as it went. They simply prayed that those who did it, would come to thier senses...

While, the sensless ones, wanted to bash some sense into those who did this, and by having no sense at all, they were experiencing a lesson in futility.

I wish you well..

It is forbidden in Islam to depict the visage of the prophet Mohammed. I think, in fact, that portraying anyone's visage is tenuous.
But, when some of those cartoons are offensive, even to non-Muslims, there is righteous anger about that. Anger should be kept peaceful, which is my criticism of some of the riots.

first of all the reason why they were angry is because the cartoons arent any regular cartoons they were extremely insulting and nasty.

secondly, how do you know Muslims drew those pictures? it doesnt say who the artist is!! and those pictures are blasphemous. but not as insulting as the cartoons.

i hope you get the difference.

I assume they rioted over the unflattering nature of Mohammed depicted.

Muslims riot over anythingthat does not portray their religion as perfect. Little do they know that their actions speak louder than any cartoon or words.

"let any man who worship muhammed-pbuh know he was a messenger and messengers have died before him, but he who worships Allah know that Allah is All-- Eternal and He never dies."
he isnt a saviour for muslims -- he is a prophet or messenger of God who came to give us God's word. we dont worship him -- hope u know that by now.

why no pics of Muhammed-pbuh allowed?
Exodus 20:4-6 records the Second Commandment. Here is God’s explicit directive: “YOU SHALL NOT MAKE UNTO YOU ANY GRAVEN IMAGE, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: you shall not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me; and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My commandments.”

Initially there were pictures and paintings of muhammed-pbuh but when Allah ordered muhammed-pbuh, since then paintings, idols and any image is forbidden in Islam. actually when an artist tries capturing the human or any life form in art, and presents it for the whole world to see, then we appreciate the image, rather than the true beauty of God the painting or sculpture was inspired from.

is it not wrong to worship a false image when u consider him God.? christians agree that the image of Jesus-pbuh was an interpretation of an artist, but yet again beleive that it was how jesus-pbuh looked like.

let me make one thing very clear to u. LOVE FOR GOD does or his prophets does not come from the images, crosses and tasbis in our hands and necks. theLOVE FOR GOD SHOULD BE IN UR HEART FOREVER. thats important and thats what counts.

For the same reason Christians get angry when other religions force there opinions on them, when Christians have been doing it for ages.
