I normally will read a novel or two and then go for a 1 hour treadmill run to sweat it off. Then I reward myself with a nice hot cup of strong black tea and watch the world news. This reminds me that I am more fortunate than most and shouldn't be wallow in my sadness but count my blessings and pray that those not so fortunate will somehow be alright

Call up my girlfriends, get a bottle of wine and laugh over how much worse things could be while you try to figure out a way to fix whatever is making you sad. Always works and this way, you are never sad for long, nor are you alone when you are going through your drama.

I remember something funny that happened to me that day or some other day, a funny scene from a movie or show I love, or just a good, fond memory that makes your heart all warm. Remember a joke, or remember something funny someone said to you; just remember all the good things that's happened in your life, because every moment you spend being sad or depressed is another moment gone not being happy or content.

I write down at least 5 things I'm grateful for! This really works, if it doesn't then keep writing more of them. If you do this every day for a year you will become more optimistic. If you want to speed it up then write 20 things every day for a few months and it should do the trick.

Listen to music that is soothing or just hang out with family. Or get active and kick or punch a punch bag to get the anger and sadness out.

I listen to Worship music and I pray. I also like to shop, go out to dinner to a nice restaurant, go to the beach and have a picnic barbecue in the park, talk to a friend, etc.

Going out and smiling with all the people around me. Or just listening to music and sleeping with many dreams.
