hey im 19 too! I guess it would all depend on the situation like if you have known me for a while then perhaps make it special so that i could tell the difference between going as friends and as a date. And i would like to go somewhere that means something to both of us so that it shows that we have a connection. If you have only just met me then perhaps make it a little more casual so that you dont scare me away but you would have to go somewhere fancy because this will set the bar. If you go cheap some girls may think that is what the whole relationship will be about. You dont have to spend heaps but just make more effort - make it special to make a good first impression! i don't think it really matters where you take a girl on a first date, if she's interested in you. it could be something as simple as walking around a park (i know, sounds cliche) or just eating something or walking around the beach (if you live near one or anything similar).
The most important aspect of any first date is chemistry, and conversation. If she's into you the date will flow naturally.
Unless of course you're both uncomfortably shy, well, then that's another story... ;)

Ok, iam not 19, but hey, i know the answer!
we like to be asked in a special way, something that makes us feel like you WANT to go out with us! but don't TOTALLY overdo it! make it natural!
ok, and as for where to go? that is a little bit tougher, again, make it natural. take her someplace that you both want to go. i suggest something where you can talk, not a movie or anything! dinner is a little too formal for first dates, but don't take her ANYWHERE to make her feel uncomfortable, or make her feel unwanted, or like you just want to take her someplace and get it over with.
so for the most part, just be natural, and go someplace fun! it will all come out naturally if you don't TRY to make it different. just be yourself!!!!

Where a girl likes to go depends on the girl in question. One sure fire way to find out is to ASK HER.

i have only ever had one bf so i dont really have a lot of knowledge... i wouldnt really care where we went or how they did it as long it was in a respectful mannor
