An Inuit hunter asked the local missionary priest:

"If I did not know about God and sin, would I go to hell?"

"No," said the priest, "not if you did not know."

"Then why," asked the Inuit earnestly, "did you tell me?"

yes. you can't call yourself a Christian if you don't believe you are responsible for your sins, if you don't believe you are a sinner. Well, you could CALL yourself one, but that doesn't make you one. The whole jist of Christianity is that we believe Jesus died for our sins, because we couldn't pay the debt. To be a Christian you have to accept you are a sinner, accept and believe Jesus died for your sins, ask for forgiveness of your sins, and ask Jesus into your heart and life. So you can see how important the whole sin issue is. If you don't believe you're a sinner or responsible for your sins, why would you ask for forgiveness for them?

Hope that helps!

Sure thing. GOD is all about the position of our hearts. We can't see most of our sin until we come to GOD on GODs terms. Jesus paid for all our sins past present and future. Overcoming Sin with the help of the Holy Spirit is the most liberating , freeing experience in the world. Its a bigger rush then anything I used to do. We are going to spend eternity with GOD. Don't you think it would be very rude not to accept responsibility for our sin?

GOD Bless ya

You can't BECOME a Christian without accepting responsibility for your sins.

Christian or not you are obligated responsibility for your own sins, your own actions..... repent and accept Jesus. The reason people go to hell is that they deny Jesus.....if you do you will be judged for everything you ever did wrong and said wrong and the punishment will be fitting to your sins..... dont be apart from God. Accept Jesus , the Son of God as your Savior.

There is no such a thing as sin, but you are responsible for the choices you make in your life, there is no human being that has one ounce of knowledge or proof for what will take place in a spiritual world, as a God loving man my obligation is to love God with all my heart soul and mind and taking responsibility for the choices I make in my life.

you are obligated to accept your responsibility for sin when you are not a christian, everybody sins everybody will go to hell and pay the consequence for sinning, christians are just people that have accepted the free gift that Jesus gave to us from the cross and our sins are washed away, does this mean that we are now perfect? no christians still sin just like everybody else. Except we realize that we are sinning and we try to repent immediately and turn away from that sin,

Yes, but God help someone if they dare to tell a Christian they need to take responsibility for their sins....they will accuse you of judging them so they can continue to play games with God.

Yes and no. It depends on which type of sin you mean.

Humans born today are not technically guilty of the Original sin our first parent's committed, but we are all stained by it, and we all suffer because of it.

Due to that early "fall" one of the hereditary characteristics of mankind is sin, so failing to accept that fact is failing to deal with reality.

And as sin is incompatible with God's divine nature, anyone who remains stained by the sin of our first parents, and/or freely sins and fails to repent, will likely have no place in God's kingdom.

The faithful who, with the help of God's grace, through his church, continue to struggle against sin, will ultimately be perfected, either here, or in the next life, and will no longer have to deal with it.

Not only are Christians obligated to accept responsibility for their own sins and deal appropriately with the rest, there's not much point in being a Christian if you don't.

Catholics in particular, have numerous ways to effectively deal with sin ... many of them instituted solely for our eternal benefit, by Christ himself.

If you want to stay a Christian.
a) We are NT told that we all have sinned and anyone who says otherwise makes God out to be a liar.
b) We have not yet reached our perfected state.
c) Sin erodes our faith and morality. We continually need the refreshment of forgiveness of confessed sins.

You're responsible for sin regardless of your religious affiliation. A Christian, the traditional teaching holds, has her or his guilt for sin expiated through Jesus' death.
