You dont want to go all out seeing as this is the frist date. But you do want to make a good impression for sure one that you two will look back on and she will remember and treasure if you two become long term. Here are a few things to get
1-find out her favorite flowers if not known get her a long stem red rose
2- her favorite chocolates
Thats all you really should get either one or both, but like i said dont over do it with lots of other things, because either she will think you are trying to get something from this and except something from giving her all of these things, or shes going to expect you to get her even better things next time and keep spending all of your money on her. So giveing her flowers or chocloates is sweet says that I am interested in you and want to see how this will work out and maybe something can become of us.
Good luck, sure she will love it! Make sure you guys go to a very nice restaurant and tell her to order what ever she likes!

I'm not sure why you feel you need to get the person something, but it should not be costly. If anything, it should be meaningful..for example, meaning that you'll both understand why you chose it. A homemade CD of music with a spoken intro by you would be really nice and make a sweet momento for the person you're going out with. Little homemade booklets about 'your life' are really fun, too, with photocopied pics. You can put things in it like your favorite pizza toppings, etc...and joke that it's a timesaver to see if you're going to 'qualify' to be dated by the person again. It would prompt that person to share things about themselves, and be a good conversation starter. Good luck.

Depends on the age we are talking about. If you are still a teen...just simply show up on time..maybe bring a flower...no gifts! If you are older, a small bouquet of flowers is perfect.
