The humble civil engineer will always be needed, from roads, to sewers, to water mains, to drainage, to tunnels, to mining, to all the service coordination, to excavation etc etc... they are and will be as (and often more so) necessary as any other field of engineering, you can build out the whole planet, but not everything lasts and changes are made, so the humble civil engineer will always be working and for more money than most of us will ever see ; )

Of course since as we as a civilization go further and further "down the tubes" as it were, you need civil engineers and sturctural engineers to design the plan and profile of the tube and structural supports necessary for the tube and related skin reinforcement for the tube.
