I have heard some reasons, but I want to know why are people afraid of the truth. (Regardless of any negative answers I may receive,"One day every tongue will confess and every knee will bow" Does that scare anyone? Why not seek the truth, do the research as you would for a school paper if you don't believe. The bible isn't bad it is a manuel on how to live a fulfilled life. How scary is it to know you have all the material here to find the truth, only to wait to late to spend it in hell for all eternity. I hope I do not but if I recieve a negative answer, know that I am already praying for you. God Bless
Hoping to see you all in Heaven on day

it is pride at the core. People want to be in control of their own lives and Jesus both sets standards and expects us to work on it. At the core of not wanting there to be a God is rebellion.

According to the Bible Jesus was a miracle, but A fact never went into partnership with a miracle. Truth scorns the assistance of wonders. A fact will fit every other fact in the universe, and that is how you can tell whether it is or is not a fact. A lie will not fit anything except another lie.
Robert Green Ingersoll

If Christians would only think, they would see that orthodox
religion rests upon suicide -- that man was redeemed by suicide,
and that without suicide the whole world would have been lost.

If Christ were God, then he had the power to protect himself
from death. But instead of using his power he allowed them to take his life.

If a strong man should allow a few little children to hack him
to death with knives when he could easily have brushed them aside, would we not say that he committed suicide?

There is no escape. If Christ were, in fact, God, and allowed
himself to be killed. then he consented to his own death --
refused, though perfectly able, to defend and protect himself, and
was, in fact, a suicide.
Robert Green Ingersoll, 1894

Why don't you go help Pat Robertson enslave more Liberians for gold while you're searching for Heaven.

I don't run from Christ, but I don't run from educating myself on other religions, cultures, and church history like most Christians do. The Bible is not a manuel on how to live, it was a political document created by the last remnants of the Roman Empire. Start with Constantine and work your way backwards...

What truth do you speak of, if it is from the bible then all I can say is you poor miss guided soul, I will pray to God for you and hope he dose not send you to hell for worshipping an "Idol" a man portraying to be a God, God the father creator of all things that's who you need to pray for your salvation in the spiritual world not a man Idolized by man.

Some people run become there don't seem to be many good examples of true Christianity out there anymore. A lot of people on this website give sarcastic responses to these kinds of questions: but how many of them feel cynical because of all the hypocrisy that they have seen?

Not so much from Christ, as from his fan club.

By the way, Muslims also claim to have the "manual for truth."

When I have a question about the world, I prefer to ask the world.

Anyway, I've tried it your way. Never again.

My story's below. I linked to it before, but you see, this question comes up every day.

I believe that people run from Christ because of people who falsely represent God but unfortunately they are still without excuse. Man should not be their focus but God should be. God should be their role model because he was without sin and mankind is not without sin. Unbelievers should focus on GOD only and only will they realize that God is not a dictator but a Loving Father who wants the best for them!

You ask a good question. I have a non-Christian but very nice and intelligent best friend who I wish would look at Christ. He keeps putting it off. It's funny, because he's a very good reporter and editor. He's very concerned about finding and spreading the truth in his job -- why can't he apply that same approach to something even more important?

I find it kind of amusing and kind of sad that you're so arrogantly confident that your beliefs are the "right" ones and that your knowledge is the "truth".

To me, it is also very telling that anyone who talks about how people should follow Christ almost always mention the threat of Hell as the punishment for "not believing".

I'll follow my Gods out of love, not out of fear, thank you.

Oh I wonder that to. I mean why would you run from him when he is the one who can fix your problems and save you and be there and love that much. But some people are just afraid because well i don't know why but the best thing to do is love Jesus and pray he'll help these people out. Well God Bless! Jesus is lord! YAY FOR JESUS!

Most people don't believe in what they don't see, which is sad. As you quote "ONE DAY EVERY TONGUE WILL CONFESS AND EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW" As God's jewels, we must pray for the non-believer and testify on what he has done in our live. Much Bless, my sister in Christ
