How do you pronounce "Zabar's"?

In the film "You've Got Mail" Kathleen went shopping at the supermarket in Upper Manhattan named "Zabar's" I want to know how "za" is pronounced. Like "zei" or "za"? In other words, "z-eight" or "z-ant" Everybody here read it as "z-a-bar" Is it correct?
