This is a nor brainer for me (mom of TWO second graders).. Left over pizza (cheese only, pepperoni could spoil), tuna fish lunch things, any kind of cheese sandwich.. here is an idea I got from another mom. freeze Gogurts (those tubes of yogurt) and stick the frozen gogurt in the lunch pack - it acts as an ice container and keeps lunch cold - but defrosts in time for lunch and even if still partially frozen the kids love it... and dont have to worry about them saving anything after lunch. Do this and you have more meat options available to you for sandwiches..or lunchables or make your own lunchables with crackers meat and cheese, etc. I also cheat and grab kids packs from subway and throw them in their boxes with a gogurt, they love that. I also always pack a fruit grapes, sliced apples with caramel, banana, sliced oranges or fruit cups, etc with whatever the main course is. Snacks like fat free or sugar free pudding are always a nice treat too. For drinks, water, Gatorade, small cranberry juice bottles, etc Once a week (Wednesdays usually,, I let them buy lunch in school - never do Fridays as lines are longer because most every parent allows buying on Fridays).. and I also stick a short I love you note or other happy words in on a napkin once or twice a week as a surprise... I know its dorky, but I love packing their lunches (and believe me I am a 'good enough; mom not mom of the year).. but its fun and makes me feel good.. weird I know.

Get a lunchable, and an extra bag of chips or popcorn. A few extra drinks. They have the Handi Snacks of spredable cheese and crackers with a stick for spreading. Cookies, chips, snack crackers, fruit. Jello or Jello pudding. Or grab 1/4 cup shredded lettuce+1 teaspoon of ranch dressing+1 hot dog bun+1slice of turkey bologna+Piece of cheese, cut in half+3 slices of tomato. Toss lettuce with ranch dressing. Fill bun with bologna, cheese, tomatoes and lettuce mixture. Wrap in plastic. You can use frozen bottles of water to keep things cool. Don't forget about those CapriSun juices that come in lots of different flavors. Carrot sticks also go great with ranch dressing.

If you do not have freeze packs to keep meat and cheese fresh and cold, then use something like peanut butter and jelly. Be careful when using mayonnaise. It can go bad easily. Serve sandwich with carrot sticks and fruit snacks. Even though healthy, one cookie will not hurt for dessert.
another idea, If you carry canned drink, freeze can then pack sandwich around can to keep cold,
