But still it is on my comp. when i go to download win plyr 10 it always says that there is a higher version of this running on your comp, but it isnt. can someone please help me?

no you will not loose your media documents , yet my question is why downgrading , in case you like previous wmp version you could acquire klite formats it has domicile windows media participant classic with it , you need to use it beside wmp11 or make it your default participant it has some solid formats to play video's greater effective than wmp11 does . additionally downgrading purely achievable in case you have upgraded to wmp11 , which may well be carried out from upload and do away with classes ( in xp ) or classes and effective properties ( in vista and win 7 )

Just uninstall windows media player 11 and install the proper version you want to install. Go to the windows media player site and look for windows media 9, then install. Good luck.

Sorry this isn't much of an answer, but you could try one of two things:

Uninstall everything related to Windows Media Player and install 10 fresh.

If you know your way around the computer, you could edit the registry. Be warned that messing up editing the registry could seriously mess up your OS and cause it to be un-bootable.
