Because white people have been guilted into thinking that they have wronged the whole world by being born white. So we wouldn't dare say a thing like that.
What I say is, if I buy a CD and it has the "N" word on it, I can sing/rap the song and say every single word REGARDLESS!

I think the "race" card playing is out of control.
I don't call anyone racial names, including the "N", word or "S" word. It's by choice, I respect or DON'T respect a person based on THE PERSON, not the color, sex, how tall they are, etc.
One thing I find VERY curious is why there are colleges that are ONLY for blacks and that's totally accepted, when if there were a college ONLY for whites, or only for Hispanic, the word DISCRIMINATION would be used so quickly.
We are living in the present, and if someones great-great- grandparents were slaves or were rounded up and put on reservations (as some of MY Am. Indian relatives were) let it go and make the most of OUR LIVES..
To answer your question.. Black people can use the "N" word, if they choose, if another race uses it, then that's HORRIBLE. If that word is SO bad, why is it used among the blacks to each other??
It's becoming a total joke.. A total "control" issue.
I've heard racial slurs used against whites from blacks, why is that acceptable.
I'm going to just continue to teach my children to not cry discrimination (of our Indian ancestors) but to get an EDUCATION. To NOT expect the world handed to them on a plate because of things that happened a long time ago, to our relatives, but GO FOR what they want with their heads held high!!,
The past if over.. It's time to MOVE ON!

it's (apparently) ok to use a 'derogatory' term toward someone else, when it could also apply to you.
The difference comes about when it it's said with the intent to be derogatory or with malice or to show a divide between white and black, and when it's just used in conversation or as a description.
The word itself is descriptive of someone of that particular origin, and is not 'inherently' derogatory. But historically, it was used as a put down, which is why it is still offensive to many people.
You'll find that individual people differ on what they find offensive.
Not sure why hispanic people are using the term .. that doesn't make logical sense to me.

The be conscious hispanic is a superficial demographic term that refers to a language and subculture no longer a race, yet its taken care of as though it have been. despite if one would not maintain stated language and subculture he or she continues to be inexplicably refered to as "Hispanic". The multiculturalists have worked genuine perplexing for the final 40 years making specific no person is "tyrannized" by assimilation into the "dominant Anglo-American subculture" to the factor of absurdity.

The very first time I ever heard the word was from the show "sanford and Son". The father said it to the son. If people want to go around saying it who's to really stop them. This is a country of free speech. Even if its a "bad" word.

I ask myself that question all the time...I'm thinking, "wasn't the struggle so that we wouldn't have to put up with anyone calling us n***ers?" And why do people think substituting an "ah" for the "er" makes it less demeaning? I think it would be perfect if we stopped using the word altogether.

I agree with you. My friends said that the "n" word doesn't mean the same thing to them; truthfully, I have never heard them use the word in friendly and loving terms. In the way I was taught, it is like pronouncing a curse on their fellow human beings and they should stop because of that. The "n" word was a curse for so many years and it should stop.
