Best Glazed Ham

1 (10 lb.) cured ham, bone-in

Glaze:
1½ c. brown sugar
3 tsp. spicy brown honey mustard
1 (8 oz.) can crushed pineapple with juice
4 dashes Tabasco
1 tsp. soy sauce
1 Tbsp. fresh sliced ginger
hand full of cloves

Soak ham in water for 2-3 hours changing water every 45 minutes. Pat dry. Place ham cut side down in large roasting pan. Score ham in X’s w/ sharp knife, and place whole cloves in scored corners. Place all glaze ingredients into blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. Gently and slowly pour glaze over ham, making sure it is totally glazed. Bake 4 hours at 300ºF.. Tent with aluminum foil if browning too quickly during last hour. Serve with warm rolls.

I put the ham in a baking dish, and I cut slats both horizontally and vertically across the ham, about 1" square. I then place a whole clove in the corner of each slot. Then, I take 1/2c brown sugar, 1/4c Molasses and 1/2c of honey and I mix them together with the juice of one orange and I use this to candy the ham. I then top it with 2 rounds of pineapple and bake the ham at 400 degrees till done. Done is not black, but it has nicely blackened edges.

I usually like smoked or cured ham. Put into either roasting pan or baking dish. I take whole cloves and insert into ham in different areas. pineapple is nice also. After it has baked a while, You can take either aprocot jam or cranberry sauce and pour over the ham.cover with foil and bake til heated throughout.

Ham.....
there are many types of ham
smoked
dry cured
boiled
baked

To bake a country ham this is dry cured with salt...it has to be soaked in water overnight and scrubbed and then baked in the oven for 20 min. per pound.

To bake a sugar cured ham a whole one...score the ham on top with criss cross cuts...and if you want it flavored you can put whole cloves on the top and pineapple rings held on with toothpicks and brown sugar....or baked plain wrapped in aluminum foil for 20 minutes per pound. So keep your label that came with the ham so you can cook it properly.

If you buy a whole ham and have a small family, the butcher will cut it into thick slices or in half so you don't have to cook the whole thing at once and then have it to go to waste. This way you can bake a small portion of it.

The baking temperature for most brand name hams is 325 degrees and 20 minutes per pound. Most hams have directions on the label.

Ham is a great meat you can prepare many dishes with the leftovers. I love to put sliced baked ham in a casserole dish with sliced onions and potatoes and then layer it with a white creamed sauce and bake it until bubbling and the top forms a crust....about 1 hour and 30 minutes...this is called "scalloped potatoes"

Also you can get some dried beans and soak them over night and then the next day rinse them and add them to the end of the ham bone that is left....that you have simmered for an hour. Add the beans and cook about 2 hours or whatever the bean directions state.

You can also grind up the baked ham and add mayonaise, sweet pickle, celery, green onion/scallions, dash of pepper and french mustard...a teaspoon. mix these all together for a sandwich or on top of lettuce for a lunch salad....

Or you can chop the ham left into cubes and into a fry pan place a tablespoon of butter and a little canola oil....add chopped green, red and yellow pepper....and a little onion...cook until the onion and pepper are soft..then beat some eggs and pour over the veggies and ham let it sit until the eggs are set on low heat....serve with muffins or toast for breakfast, lunch or dinner.....

bye hope this gives you some ideas.....hugs from Mama Jazzy Geri

ps ..almost left this one out.. you can boil some smoked ham with veggies like green beans, cabbage or other dark greens like collards, turnip or mustard greens that have been washed and cut up...they are very healthy to eat. just remove any fat from the ham.

RE:
How do you bake a basic ham?

Easiest recipe: If the ham steak is too salty for your taste, soak at least an hour in milk or water. Discard milk or water after soaking ham steak. Pat dry. Pepper. If the ham steak has a generous amount of its own fat left, place in a hot skillet and cook until browned on each side, then deglaze the bits and use as a pan gravy. If the ham steak is lean, use preferred cooking fat in a skillet that is slowly heating up.

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://biturl.im/aU5CG

The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true
