Incest is a common day law. It did happen in the bible. They did marry their brothers and sisters. Royalty has done so too.

brothers and sisters married each other. The only thing that was left pure in man and women were there genes. The reason is so that adam's sons and daughters could populate the earth without having the birth defects and stuff that can be the outcome of it today. it was up to a certain time that it was no longer allowed because the earth was very much populated as it was no longer to marry between close family.

It didn't say in the bible that bothers and sister should not marry
when Seth killed Able and God put a mark on him Seth said that any man who met him would kill him to get famous
so this says there where more people on the earth besides Adam and Eve
the special thing about Eve and Adam was that God chose them to be his close friends and that is why he gave them the garden to live in

It wasn't until the law of Moses that they couldn't marry a close relative and that was at least 3000 years after Adam and Eve .They had many sons and daughters (Gen. 5 )of course they married and it wouldn't take long to get distant. Even Abraham married his 1/2 sister but again the genetics still weren't that polluted yet.And Jacob married his cousin(about 450 yrs before Moses)
So,it was cool then but not now ...you might get an extra ear or something.
PS almost all of the people above me...are knotheads...Luv ya

At the time this law was declared it was over 1000 years after the creation. By this time, enough genetic abnormalities had crept into the genetic code that it was no longer possible to allow such unions. At the time of Adam and Eve, who also were essentially brother and sister, as they shared nearly the exact same genetic code, there were no mutations or abnormalities in their code. Those first children likley looked almost like identical twins.

According to the Bible, Adam and Eve had only sons. So a better question would be, how did two men procreate? And why can't they anymore?

supposedly this doesn't matter, only Jesus words and Paul commands now matter, but that's another arguement in itself

even the most adamant believer, my mom and dad, admit there is error and try to avoid this question. it's not just this, but where did Cain go and who did he call a wife if he was among 1st offspring?

way too many holes in the Bible...check this out though. Many of the inconsistencies have been studied, and in this case the 'dark' passages of a god of light are studied.

"From the sampling of the dark passages of the Bible presented in this Dark version, it should become self evident that if one wishes to defend the concept of a "good" and "loving" God, the Bible should serve as the last source to use for supporting evidence.

Moreover, if we wish to know ourselves, it may well serve us to learn the limitations of our language system. The written form has existed for only six thousand years; only a brief instant of time relative to our millions of years of evolution. The Bible represents the Bronze Age beliefs of men at the birth of writing. As in most evolutionary trends, mistakes get made, sometimes fatally. Indeed, our species has become even more violent in relation to strengths of faith in written Scripture. Unfortunately faith relies on hope and ignorance. Only education and critical thinking can allow us the means to correct our mistakes.

With technology advancing every year, our weapons have the capability to destroy whole cities, countries, if not every person on the earth. If people continue to base their actions on ancient Biblical reasoning, any small minority who gains access to the destructive technology may very well carry out holocaust-like proportions on innocent men, women and children. It has happened before and it can easily happen again. Today we still see the destructive acts carried out around the world which originate from deep cultural roots based on religious Scripture. Although belief structures have given rise to ethnic culture, it can also produce life threatening situations to our existence on earth. Understanding our belief-systems and to de-emphasize the sacredness of the Bible may well help to prevent our own destruction.

One interpretation of Genesis is that Adam and Eve were not the only people around. They were just the two that God picked to live in the Garden of Eden. So there were other people around for their children to marry. After they sent Cain away for killing his brother, the bible says that he found a wife. So she must have been somewhere else.

But you're not supposed to take any of this literally. Really. It's impossible to do that.

They married a race of mixed breeds called nephilim and giants according to Genesis 6. Also in the prior chapter of Genesis it said who begat whom.

Adam and Eve were created before theere was a Bible so they didn't have to follow the rules. Plus, remember, they were PERFECT. No genetic flaws to pass on. Part of the reason that society frowns on incest is that the offspring have a higher than average chance of suffering from mental or physical defects.
