I don't know whats wrong with her. I did some research on it.. and apparently, it could be something to do with the spine. I called the vet and they said they can't see her till Thursday. I'm REALLY really scared for my pup because she's whinning in pain, and not eating. I'm heartbroken right now, and I don't know what to do. I can't switch vets because there arn't any around here.. and my moms really mad and sad because she spent over $600 on the dog this month. What should I do? :'(

The pup is about 4 months old. The vet saw her about a month ago and she was fine then. I think our vet is a appointment only? I dunno.. I don't know what to do. :'(

My pup is okay now. :o My mom started massaging it and she's okay now? You think it was just a minor injury or a slipped disc? It's perfectly normal now.

I am not a vet, so I can't say exactly what's going on with your puppy. But this is what happened to "my" dog when she was a pup. Somehow her leg became disconnected from the socket, and she too could not move her leg. When I massaged her leg it also helped, but then she started whinning later on. Her vet was not available, so I took her to one that "was," and they put the leg back in place, and that was that! So I would call another vet right away. Good luck

Congenital defects: Congenital defects can affect just about any area, but the heart, lungs and digestive tract seem to be the most prevalent. Sometimes puppies can be born so premature that organs won’t be fully developed and/or they will be missing hair. Following birth, check each puppy, looking for the obvious signs like cleft palate, tail and leg deformities and in the rare instance, no anal opening. Some congenital defects are apparent right away, but others may not become apparent until the puppy is much older. Defective puppies should be put down, as trying to save them, will only bring heartache later on.
The most critical period of a dog's life is during the first week. The early care and environment of the newborn puppy are of the utmost importance. Early causes of death can usually be attributed to: difficult whelping, congenital or genetic defects, environmental factors (i.e. too cool or drafty), carelessness of the dam, infection, viruses, toxic milk or insufficient nourishment.
Classic warning signs of trouble in neonatal puppies are failure to nurse, insufficient weight gain, temperature drop, dehydration, continuous crying, Diarrhea and/or vomiting.

Call the vet back and tell them it's an EMERGENCY and the dog can't wait until Thursday, or just go in anyway and carry her in without an appointment. Tell them you aren't leaving until the vet sees her. Don't give in and be persistent.
I don't know how old you are, but you might want to have your mom call them back and tell them how bad she is. They will probably be more willing to listen to an adult.
I think it's terrible for the vet to make the poor dog wait until Thursday. I don't care how busy he or she is. Call back and let them know how bad the dog is.
Good luck with your baby. I hope she'll be OK.

first of all, how old is the pup, and how long have you had it? did you buy it from a pet shop or a breeder. If it's a baby and came from a pet shop or a horter(puppy mill it probably has parvo.Find help with another vet immediately or ask the vet to atlest prescripe some rymadyl for the pain.

Call your Vet first thing in the Morning and tell them that you need to be seen RIGHT NOW, and dont take NO for an answer; if the Receptionist says to wait for your Appt. go to the Vets Office and say that you will sit here til the Vet sees your Puppy. That is what I would do.Good Luck.

Oh honey, I really feel for you! I would demand vet attention. As someone said, tell them it's an emergency, or just go straight in. Or ATLEAST get them to give you strong pain killers until you can see them. Until then, keep the dog as still as possible, and maybe carry him around so he's not afraid. I know it's all so expensive, but please make sure your mum pays for the treatment. Offer to pay her back, or work around the house until the debt is cleared with her. I wish you and your puppy the best of luck!

My vet will take a walk-in when it is something serious. Take the pup there and plead with them to see your dog. Hope it will be okay.

my dog had the same problem. her back legs were parilized and if we hadn't of taken her to the vet to have surgery, then she still would be. most likely it IS a spine problem. so in the meantime, do not let her jump and carry her everywhere. spinal surgery is expensive if this is the problem, but it is worth it. we added 5 years to date on my dogs' life and she's still happy and walking fine today.
