Colin Powell, John McCain, and Lindsey Graham?

29 retired military leaders urged Congress to reject a provision of the Military Commissions Act of 2006 that would redefine Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions so as to downgrade the Conventions' standards for humane treatment.

Do not fall for the rhetoric being thrown at you from the right. These guys are not into it for the politics. Wake up and do your own homework.

Honorable mention goes to the Harry Potter fan, Sirius Black. While not following current events very closely, he has great taste in literature and cinema.

Yes Siruis, V for Vendetta is a wonderful caricature of the current government in the United States. Based on fear and propaganda, we've begun the process of giving up our morals and our freedom in search of so-called security, which is a futile search, for it will never be. There will always be terrorism. And the more we embrace empirialistic ways, the more terrorists we create.

The three individuals named in the question have publicly disagreed with President Bush's proposal to redefine the Geneva Convention and they are Republicans. However, there is one more thing they have in common.

Text of portion in question:
Article 3
In the case of armed conflict not of an international character occurring in the territory of one of the High Contracting Parties, each party to the conflict shall be bound to apply, as a minimum, the following provisions:

1. Persons taking no active part in the hostilities, including members of armed forces who have laid down their arms and those placed hors de combat by sickness, wounds, detention, or any other cause, shall in all circumstances be treated humanely, without any adverse distinction founded on race, colour, religion or faith, sex, birth or wealth, or any other similar criteria.

To this end the following acts are and shall remain prohibited at any time and in any place whatsoever with respect to the above-mentioned persons:

(a) Violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment and torture;

They believe by congress defining article 3, which is unintelligible as is. This will weaken and be used against our own troops. But our enemies dont follow the Geneva convention. Of course in Hanoi Janes eyes, our troops lied about their treatment, she said she had communist that were here friends. McCarthy was right a Russian KGB wrote a book and confirmed it.

So our enemies will use whatever means they want regardless of this meaningless opposition from Powell, Mc Cain, Graham,
2 of 3 are liberals not sure of Graham. We know 2 of the 3 are Republicans did Powell vote Republican.????
The real question is, when the next major attack occurs do you want to tell your children it happened because we could not make terrorist listen to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, or put womens panties on their head. (If they were Rosie ODonnell's that would be torture).

I dunno, I was just wondering if your waking fear of what will become of USA's Gov't has anything to do with your avatar being V for Vendetta (Possibly the best movie I've ever seen). I was so ecstatic to see a fellow fan (I figure you must be?) that I went to answer one of your questions so that I could remark on it. However, it seems that I cannot answer your question (or am to lazy to find out (sorry)) and I regret gaining 2 points in the vain hopes that you might respond. --Sirius Black
