For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility.

Our religions tell truth, in story fashion. Which takes away from
truth. But that is how it had to be done in those days, because
people didn't have even elementary knowledge of things like physics.
I think evil came into being more by a process of degeneration.
What we call God, being a whole dimension of reality by itself.
And as Life flowed out into the Universe, from one dimension to
the next. The power naturally became thinner.
So the first life, having godlike qualities, and abilities. Till there
came the next level where life still had its godlike abilities. But
the godlike qualities were lost. And things like pride, and wanting
power and control corrupted life.

God is the God of life. Everything he crafts lasts forever. The only reason our flesh bodies die is because death is the penalty for sin. Our spirit continues on forever.

Since angels are pure spirit, they too, are eternal.

This makes a lot of sense for an all powerful, all knowing, eternal, Creator God.

because that wouldn't explain why we have evil and the people that wrote the historical novel known as the Bible had to explain evil in order to keep the masses under control. If they believed in the giant invisible guy in the sky and his ability to smite them, they were much more inclined to do the right thing. It also kept the rulemakers from having to defend their rules over and over. This way they could just say, "God ordered it. Don't question him or he will smite you."

God has given a free will to human (i.e. the choice to select between good and bad). That is why God created evil (Satan), so that people can compare good with evil. The good cannot be felt or understood in absence of evil.

Stock answer-"Because God is merciful, and it was part of His divine plan. And it is not our place to question God, Heathen!"

My feelings-That is a specific case of a larger general problem of the christian conception of God. Why would an Omnipotent being allow anything that displeased Him?

Because God wants people to have a choice.

Because he wanted to watch this sick charade called "life" play itself out, in which he knows IN ADVANCE that little children will be raped, people will be murdered, babies will be born with horrible deformities etc.

And this "loving" and all-powerful god just sits back and enjoys his "handy work".

The question you should ask is: "If such a god does exist, why would you worship him???"

God doesn't completely destroy His creations, whether they are humans or spirits. Once he brings them into existence, He does not take back what He made for everything that He created was perfect.
