They seem to forget that they are in the MINORITY! It seems like common sense to me that if you look around and the majority are doing something....that maybe you should check yourself!

Atheists will find out just how wrong they were on the Day of Judgement when they have to face God!

There are a lot more flies than there are people. Maybe we should all learn from them!

Seriously, knowledge does not advance from majority rule. But let's consider your argument in a little more detail anyway. You say that 9 out of 10 people believe in God. You seem to be overlooking Hindus and Chinese. Or maybe you only want to include cultures that have been exposed to The Bible for at least a thousand years? They all believe in the same One True God of the Hebrew Bible, right? If so, what about Islam, and Mormonism, let alone the Catholic/Protestant split? Do you think that all of these different religions really believe in the same "God"?

I am an atheist with respect to the Hebrew Bible. I think it is clearly myth. I think people who accept that Leviticus is the word of God must be a little crazy and ignorant. But I am actually an agnostic when it comes to the greater question of whether there is a God, but just not the God of the Old Testament. I don't have strong objections to people who feel that there must be a God, I just wish God believers would be more rational and less willing to swallow 2500 year old mythical views of God.

We don't think you are crazy, why do christians believe we are so evil and hate them so much? the answer is not all of you do, only some. We are the same way as you. We may think you are wrong, but that doesn't mean we think you are crazy. I can understand why some people would choose to believe in a religion. Also, being the majority doesn't make you right, that is ignorance. There was a time, long ago, when christians were a minority, does that mean that they were wrong then? I don't know, but according to you they were.

The ateists are honest . They say only what they feel as right and refuse to accept anything blindly. the ae scientific in thir thought and behaviour . They do not accept anything and everythng just because the majority people accepot . History is relplete with hard evedences of fact that th emajority of th epeople wer efooligh and iognorant about many many things. the majority did NOT understand that the earth was going around the sun and they believed that iotwas the sun that was going around the earth , for they saw really the sun going around the earth from the ancient times till date . they did no9thage the inteeligence to scrutinize and verify the fact . they killed thepeople who told the truth saying that it was anit religous and anti -god , thereby insulting the religon and god because of their sheer folly. One who doubts anything alone can find the truth.one who just believes blindly anything and everything with out scrutiny and conviction is more often foolish. Majority of the poeple doi not know maths , majority of the people do not understnd the theory of relatielty .majority of th epeoplke do not know surgery .So you can not hold that what ever the majority do not know is false and wrong . Majority of the people have not seen theheaven and hell . majority of the people know the innocent people and new born babies who have never had an opportunity to commit any sin at all , babies who do not know even thier own name at all die. Is not god sinning by killing such babies.or the almighty might less to avert the deathand sufering of such innocent babies?
it is only theleaves that are inmajority in a tree and not fruits . majority of th estones in tehworld are wiorhtless and not gems and gems are rare only. Majorityof the metals in theworld are base only . it is only the minority that is precious .Majority of th epeople are not Newton and Einstein. they are only a minority and rare . So believe not in majority blindly . Think for yourself and be truthfull and honest to yourslef and believe only in what you should only if you have a reason. god is not an idiot and he would not like man to be an idiot too.If God wants you to be an idiot and should not know anything then the Chritian missions should not be engged in teaching and running schools . let them discourage learning .ans ask the followers to b singing Bajan all the time to get a passport to heaven.

I agree, if most people are doing something, I should do it too. That's why I eat junk food, sit at home watching TV all day, smoke, drink, think the Moon Landings were faked and that Saddam Hussein engineered 9/11, buy lots of lottery tickets and have just divorced my third wife.

Okay, now that we've proved you wrong, let's take a closer look at the facts.

For one thing, while atheists are in the minority, so are christians. Christianity is the biggest religion on Earth, but it still holds only about a third of the world's population at 2.1 billion adherents. Islam is second with 1.3 billion, and after that come atheism/agnosticism at 1.1 billion and hindu at 900 million.

Second point, it appears very likely that humans have evolved to be religious. Throughout most of our history, we have been small, primitive tribes with no understanding of science and lots to gain from killing each other. Those tribes that used religion to explain things and keep themselves together survived better than those that didn't, and passed on their gullibility genes to us. Note that this has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not the religions were true (and you would agree that they weren't).

Third point, any new belief or position has to start as a minority. In medieval times, most academics followed the teachings of Aristotle, that everything was made of four elements. But then, as science progressed, more and more people turned to other ways of explaining things, until we have our modern physics. Similarly, people like Copernicus and Galileo were a tiny minority in their time, but by now pretty much the entire civilized world agrees with their views. And atheism, virtually unknown 1000 years ago, now holds a sixth of the world's population. Yet you single out atheism and claim that it is the one that doesn't make sense. Why?

And fourth, of course, there is the enormous amount of evidence against God, or at least the christian God, existing. There's way too much of it to post right now, but it's all over the Internet, and besides much of it can be found just through common sense and logic.

Well Jay, I wish I could say that I agree with you but in my experience , I don't find what you say to be true. At least the part where you say atheists act like it's crazy & ignorant to believe in god. In my experiences it's still the same old stuff, with the Reight wing christians still offering fire & brimstone to thost who don't take their god into their soul for the only salvation. I rerely see or hear much from the athiests, even when you step on their toes. Just my observation. Yup! Monkey see Monkey do, maybe.

It seems that you are the one who thinks that atheists are ignorant and crazy. Just because you and a lotf other people who believe what they are told and are afraid to think for themselves do, doesn't make it right. It just means that they've decided that if the world with all it's hatred, war, starvation, injustice and violence is a reflection of god's love, then that just might be a good reason for not believing in god. You don't have to agree...just live with the fact that not everyone agrees with you.

You are very, very confused. There as many atheists as there are bible believers. If we use your example, why would anyone believe in an imaginary God when so many people do not?

You argument is a logical fallacy called appealing to numbers and is not a valid argument.

There is no credible evidence to support God belief regardless how many people believe or don't believe.

And, the majority of American children believe Santa Claus exists, so based on your argument, Santa must exist.

Atheism is the only logical choice.

There are many types of non-believers of many faiths. Do you believe in ALL faiths? There are many differing religions, some are based on one "god" and some are polytheistic. Most are sure they are following the one "correct" religion while some believe that there are many paths to "heaven". Even those who do not believe in the Christian God are showing faith in their own belief. Perhaps they (atheists) are only responding to those who feel it important to insist that those who do not believe as they (christians) do are bound to an eternity of damnation.
I am a Humanist. We believe that a moral and ethical life can be led without dieties. There are issues here on Earth that must and can be resolved by man.

It's not "crazy & ignorant" to believe in God but it is "crazy and ignorant" to allow God to cause so much hatred among mankind.

Are you making the idiotic claim that 9 of 10 people in the world believe in God?

Try thinking for yourself instead of following the crowd. You may learn a few things!
