If you seen them lock up she is probably pregnant. You can't tell for quite some time because they carry their pups up in the rib cage. I would say at about 4 wks. take your dog to the vet and have her checked, even than they can't always tell.
I breed my mini-dachshund a couple of yrs. ago. She held her pups very high and did not start showing until she was two weeks away from birthing. I took her to the vet at 4 wks. and the vet said she was not pregnant (he was wrong) She carried her pups exactly 61 days and only had 3 puppies. Keep track of when she should be do on your calendar that way you can look after her alot during that time. Some dogs will just drop them without a sound, my mom has a dachshund that had pups on the couch and never made a peep. My dog cried and made all sorts of noise.
Seeing this is your pups first litter she may only have a couple.
Good Luck!!

If you got your dogs from a reputable breeder, then you need to call them and ask for guidance on becoming a responsible breeder. Simply having a purebred dog does NOT mean that they should be bred. This is why 25% of the 2-5 million animals that are put to sleep each year are purebred - irresponsible breeding.
So, if the female is pregnant (not prego), then your breeder mentor should be able to help you out with signs. If the female is not pregnant, you don't have a mentor, and your dog is not a champion show dog with champion lines traceable back 3-5 generations, good genetics, and a superb specimen of the breed as judged by someone involved in dog showing, then the dogs should be fixed, ASAP. I know how exciting it can be to have puppies around, but I recommend buying a puppy if you want one that badly. Ask a breeder if you can be involved from the get-go. Breeding substandard dogs contributes to genetic defects, personality flaws, and over-population. No dog lover wants to contribute to the killing of dogs who can't find homes, therefore only a select few should be allowed to breed.
I don't say this to tell you that your dog is substandard, he may be perfect and beautiful in your eyes, but not all purebred dogs should be bred based on papering alone. Even the AKC and Pomerainian clubs will tell you this. This is not some left wing wacko animal rights agenda - this is the view of ALL reputable breeders and rescue workers.
If the female is pregnant, then your next step is to read up on the pom website and other websites to see what makes a responsible breeder. Breeding for the ethical and responsible breeder is not taken on for monetary gain from the puppies, learning the 'life cycle', or because they love dogs. It is done to improve the breed. Anyway, if the female is pregnant, take the appropriate steps to take care of those puppies by ensuring that each prospective owner is screened; that you have given proper love, socializing, and health care to each puppy; that you have a contract that guarantees the health of the puppy, that guarantees that you will take the puppy back should the owner's circumstances ever change, and that the puppy will be altered as it is only "pet" quality. I'll link to some guidelines for you. Even as the stud's owner, you are still responsible for the lives you allowed to be created.
If you don't have the time to read and adhere to the guidelines set by the AKC and the pom club, then you should not be breeding. The breeding of an animal is not a decision that should be taken lightly. Good luck to you.

You can tell if she is pregnant, if you measure her right now, around her girth at the last rib, and again 21 days after the mating.. If there is an increase in any amount, then she is pregnant..Otherwise a vet can tell at 31 days...No way to tell before...
she will carry the puppies 63 days, 5 days more or less...(nine weeks).
Here is an illutrated site to help you give proper care of mom before whelping, and puppies later.> http://www.thepetcenter.com/gen/whelping.html
Unless you become considerably more informed, you will be heading for a heartache, rather than a joyous occasion.. Please read, and study before the puppies get further along..

Having bred Poms, I would recommend you have some Karo syrup on hand for when the puppies are born. Some puppies have low blood sugar. You can tell, because they are very quiet.
Just give them a little Karo syrup to lick your finger.
