She is a 2 year old Shiz Tzu and keeps chewing the paint off the baseboard. We've tried spanking her, covering them over with something, but she always figues out how to get to it. I don't want her getting sick from eating paint chips.

Visit your local pet store (Petsmart or Petco) and ask them for a pet repellant. If will be a liquid that you can brush on the baseboard. The dog will then leave it alone. They'll know what you're talking about at the pet store. Hope it works!

A few things:
1. Make it unappealing (someone mentioned repellent) to her and she should stop chewing that anyway.
2. Distract her with chew toys or something else to catch her attention other than the baseboards.
3. If all else fails, ask the good folks at the pet store, a trainer, or a vet.

There is a product called Bitter Apple that you can purchase, it's safe for all surfaces, and most fabrics. You can also go to the store and by some hot peppers, cut them open, and rub the juices and seeds all over it. This won't cause staining like hot sauce will. My lab eventually ended up wanting to lick the bitter apple...(he's strange anyways) But wouldn't get near the door frame with the peppers. He still is afraid of it, and cowers to crawl by it if he has to get near that frame.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/BIncI

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

Get her some toys, place hot sauce on the base boards or a dog repellent from a feed store. Pay more attention to the positive things. Hire a dog walker for her if she has extended periods in the house.

There are spray-on products that you can apply to furniture, walls, shoes, etc. that repels dogs. The product is available in any pet supply store. It is non-toxic and does not harm the dog in any way; it just smells and tastes awful for her. I believe it is called "No-Chew."
