Back when humanity was very young and spoken word was very rare so obviously nobody had names, do you think that one day a cave man or woman just looked at somebody and said " morning Dave " thus not only starting a naming process for the entire planet but now everybody knew what that part of the day was called, etc etc. P.s looked at a small mammal with a really long snout, pointed and said Aardvark. ?????????????????

I don't they actually came up with "Dave" but I do they came up with titles for the people... say this one dude was the main hunter, so maybe they called him hunter (okay, I know they didn't speak English but I do think they came up with simple one syllable words that pertained to what occupation they held). I think the word aardvark came from Latin or something like that. The more civilized people came up with that word, i think.

The question is?

Should he have been called Joe?

It's a lot better than grunting and pointing, no?
