this violence sadly is being caused by common Americans who just happen to want to have a good time and forget that what they do has repercutions in others .

Mex sad i say has become a war zone where common mexicans and even the police have been out power by drug cartels which get huge amounts of money and the most deadly weapons from America . each day it is comun to see two or three deaths due to this violence .

so here is my question :

shouldn't the USA make its first priority to help Mex instead of those who hate u ?

i also want to remind to all Americans that Mex its your closesneigborg and friend and that each year a huge amount of Americans choose Mex as their vacation destination and many times their retirement home . i want to point out the last and how by Mex allowing Ameri.. to live legaly in Mex it also allows them to live out of the st. so if you do not want to do it for the mexicans u should at least do it for ur own by allowing mex.. to come out of the shadow

mrcricket there is many places which are peaceful mexicans treat them like nobody else would , they treat them like long time friends . plus as i mentioned those people are retired people who would be on the street with the little money they recieve . money which is a lot to them in mexico .

but as i said there is still violence and it may expread to every place in mex provoking a situation which would not be benefitial to Mexico or to USA .

mr boof not a single person commiting real crimes should recieve any help or being legalized this is my clear opinion . it is that kind of people the ones we are fighting and the same which are obtaining weapons and money from America as i said before . we the civilized world ought to help one another instead of allowing the destruction of those who seek peace in both sides of the border .

I think you need to spend some time there and see the squaller these people have to live in. Few of them see the violence you refer to, they are far too remote from the cities, where these sad things take place.

If your conjecture were accurate, why do the americans choose to live there?

Let us be realistic, now I am part Mexican.

I could go to Mexico on vacation, but seeing as I am american I am a sell out to Mexicans. I will be robbed, possibly raped and thrown into a Mexican jail where the dirty cops will take more of anything of value that was left by the robbers. So since I am such a sell out why should I care what happens, while you are spitting at my feet calling me a dirty american and cursing me in Spanish.

Mexico has sadly created their own bed and now must lie in it with the fleas, we have drugs here too, the difference is Our Goverment doesnt welcome them. American criminals go to Mexico to flee the justice system and the Mexican Goverment allows them to stay there.

The people of Mexico need to make it their priority, to improve their goverment. I don't feel that is up to America.

Also, technicially Canada is our closest neighbors. See as though there are more legal ports of entry between the US and Canada.

Plus Canadians dont come to the US, insist we learn their language and refuse to speak english. Claiming they will lose thier cultural identity. Here is a tip, want to keep your culture... stay in Mexico.

There needs to be less whining and more countries taking responsibility for themselves. There I said it, yeah it was harsh but sometimes that is just the way it is!

You have drug lords cutting off people's heads and delivering them to bars, and buying off your police force. But you say that is OUR fault?

I don't see that happening here, and to the extent it ever does, it will be transplanted.

We don't WANT it coming here. That is part of the problem with the situation.

And if you want our demand cut off, you should support the border fence and border security. If it is really 'our fault', that should make it go away. Right?

And we always could bring in immigrants, Mexicans amongst them, who are willing to obey our laws and respect our immigration limits. What about the friends and neighbors who have been patiently waiting for a visa all of this time?

Illegal immigration is against the law because it hurts us. Why should we give a preference to those who don't care if they hurt us as long as they are better off?

I have my own feelings about legalization of screened illegals (not to bring in family) IF we get the problem solved. However, this entitlement attitude is the biggest reason we SHOULDN'T do it, in my mind.

And Mexico wants our retirees for the same reason we want immigrants with money. They are an economic plus. Mexico's immigration laws are a lot stricter than ours.

AND since when DOESN'T Mexico hate us? The vast majority does, by polls, and what we saw in the marches here and hear on this board and see on web pages carries much the same message. Your idea that it is our fault you have mass corruption and crime echos with much the same voice. The idea we hear over and over that we stole your land, while I know it was in Mexican text books, led to a generation of Mexicans who seem to think that whatever they do to us is justified.

We don't feel like Mexicans like us, at all.

edit - I didn't say they were the only group that didn't like us. And if we 'cause' the drug problem, we had damned well better close that border and shut off the demand, hadn't we?

Let's see:
*homeless
*child abuse, neglect and exploitation
*spousal abuse
*murder
*rape
*incest
*poverty
*equal rights
*homosexual agenda
*war
*national debt
*terrorist attacks (9/11 ring any bells)
*civil rights violations by government
*lies to us from our government
*natural disasters (Hurricane Katrina)
*child abductions
(I could go on, but I will run out of space eventually)

Quite a list, and I could have gone on. Don't you think we have enough on our plate without taking on the issues from another country? Yes - in a perfect world, this would be the humane thing to do, and I am sure we would do it. But how can we when we can't even handle the issues within our own borders?

It is not a perfect world. The US is the most hated country on this earth - except when someone needs our help. I bet the Mexicans badmouth us, calling us a bunch of racists and we are nothing but snobs. And then they want us to give them all of the freedoms and benefits we enjoy as AMERICAN CITIZENS. Fair? Not hardly.

You can plead for compassion all you like. I find that rather hypocritical that the only thing we are good for is to bail other countries out of their problems. We're like dad on a Friday night - "Can I have some money and the keys to the car? I have a date."

We can help those that choose to help themselves - not choose to take the easy way out and run from the problems. The problems will still be there - no matter where they go.

Gosh, I spend most of my time in Mexico, and don't see much violence. That is because most of the violence is along the border, and is drug cartels involved.

The people who live in what you call squalor don't view it as squalor, just because you do. It is just how they live, and their fathers before them. As long as they can buy the basic necessities, and have some money for recreation, they aren't miserable. Those who come to the States to work do improve their lives in Mexico because they learn better from us.

What about the disproportionate amount of illegal aliens that come into this country to perpetrate their crimes? And what about the DEA that has sent numerous agents into Mexico to help the authorities? The Mexican government is the reason for Mexico's problems due to their corruption. Don't blame us for your ills and preach to me how I should react to illegal aliens costing me and my fellow American taxpayers billions of dollars. It's hard to feel compassion for someone when they keep kicking you in the nuts.

And as far as helping us when we are in need? Mexico has voted AGAINST the USA 80% of the time in the UN on resolutions. That statement is a freakin' joke.

Mexico's crap, Mexico's problem. Not mine. America is better off helping the Middle East than cleaning up that toilet WHEW!

And get your facts straight. The only "Americans" who visit Mexico are the people who originally came from there and some Coughillegalcough immigrants. I wouldn't dare to come there. Even the candy could kill you. Please, check your facts before you stard declaring some "great speech".

Bc its ordinary to hate Mexicans. We fought a conflict with them, distinct criminals are Hispanic so there's a adverse connotation about Mexicans, plenty if human beings do not stay with Hispanics so as that they hate the strawman idea of them. or merely undeniable lack of understanding.

I have traveled all over Mexico and not see the violence you are speaking of, but I know it exists. The US can't take care of the violence and problems here, until they can, they shouldn't be interfering with other nations, even the closest ones.
