I know there's a lot of Christians that keep their religion a personal matter and don't try to CONVINCE people to believe in a god, and coexist peacefully with everyone else. There IS a small percentage, however, who try to sell god like an infomercial. Aside from church donations and other monetary benefits, if you do tend to push religion on people (especially those who state that they don't believe in a god or even those of different religions you don't agree with), WHY do you care if some people you don't know about go to hell or not? What's YOUR personal benefit? And don't give me the old "god is the TRUTH" line. Come on, we're humans. We don't do anything unless there's a benefit to it (or unless you HAVE to, like go to work). So, what do YOU hope to gain from running around telling people how "god is the answer"? NOTE: Again, this is for those who KNOW they preach about religion to non-family.

If you saw a flock of Geese heading in the wrong direction, would you not try to show them the right way? This may be offensive to you but they feel they are showing you the right path. Whether you believe them or not shouldn't make you defensive. Realize that everyone has their own opinions. If you try to convince me why there is no God that is fine too, I will not hold it against you. This is how we learn, we learn thru interaction and seeking knowledge from one another.

I never worried about other people's souls until I gave my life to God at a camp meeting revival at my church a few weeks ago. Now I feel compelled to tell everyone about God and how he has moved in my life. Not everyone does things that benefit them only. The only rewards I ever want is the ones I build up in heaven. No amount of money or person is worth my soul. And I just want other people to learn about God and turn their lives around and live for him. I don't want anyone to burn in hell. Once God comes into your life you tend to have compassion for others. Whether or not you believe in God is your choice but I will be praying for you that you turn to God before it's too late.

I've found the greatest gift. THE greatest gift. It's free. It's for everybody. If I just take mine and shuffle off, what good is that? Why do I care if someone goes to hell? Unimaginable glory is waiting instead. I want everyone there. I don't give a hoot if I've never met them. I want them there. I don't care if they're a different religion. If they're ok by Jesus I'm the first to shake their hand.

My personal benefit? You may find this hard to believe but if I receive *anything* for leading anyone else to Christ I'm giving it back. Why? Because it all belongs to Christ. My reward will consist of just being there.

There's going to be a barbecue. Jesus Christ is hosting.
Don't you dare miss it.

Beacuse we care about their souls. Is it easy going to people and telling them that we have all sinned and we must be redeemed? No, but we all feel a personal obligation to tell people about Christ and to let themknow that there is a better end to their lives than Hell. Honestly, I would have it that everyone I were to tell about God get into Heaven, but, unfortunately, I know that it's not going to be that way.
There is nothing to gain. If the entire world were to descend into debauchery and sin tomorrow (and I mean the ENTIRE world), it wouldn't change my state of salvation. In fact, I have a lot more to gain from not telling people about Christ because, frankly, I don't feel like it most of the time, and I could do without the awkward moments. But I must because, if I don't overcome the awkward moments, then what becomes of them? What would happen if I were them, and I would go to Hell because a person decided not to tell me about Jesus?
It really amounts to compassion and how much you care about others to let them know that they can meet a horrible demise if they tread down the broad, comfortable way. I don't always want to do it, and I could do without doing it, but I must do it, for their sake.

I try to tell people about God for a couple of reasons. For one, I remember how my life was before I came to faith and so I feel sorry for people who don't have God power and guidance operating in their lives. Another reason is because it's commanded in the Bible to spread the gospel message. I don't try to sell God like an infomercial, but I'm always looking and praying for opportunities to tell people the best news that anyone can hear.

If you knew about some people who were going to die a painful death from a horrible disease but you knew where they could get completely cured for free, even though you didn't know them personally, wouldn't you be excited about going to them and telling them the good news that they were unaware of? That's how it is for me.

I care when people ask questions about God and the bible.

I care and get offended when people want to bad mouth God and the bible just the same way as you or anyone would be if you heard someone bad mouthing your father and saying the most disgusting things about him.

I care when people who are hurt and feel alone or angry don't believe because it is like I have a brother or sister who don't believe Dad loves them and they get so angry because they can't feel God's love like I am able to and it saddens me.

It's rather like seeing an abused child that lashes out in anger at everyone around them and your heart breaks to see them like that.

You just want to wrap them up in a hug and take them home to live with your family so that you can show them by your example "See, your Mommy and Daddy may not love you; but my Daddy will love you, cherish you and take care of you, and so will I".

OK. I'll give you two answers. One you probably won't buy into, the other one you might.

The first reason is, we are called to go out and make disciples. The Great Commission. We are to do this out of obedience. We are to do this out of love for our neighbor, and our neighbor is everyone.

The other reason is that we will be rewarded according to how we have used the gifts given to us. The business we are to be about is to further the kingdom of God, or to make disciples, just as above. So now, not only are we doing this in obedience, but we are doing it for a reward. I have an idea what that reward is, but it really does not matter what it is. It will be a reward from God. That's all I need to know.

Actually, there is a benefit. God calls us to be a witness. Our meaning of life is to follow God AND convince other to trust in him also. When Christians die and go to heaven, God will reward them with a crown and jewels and place it upon our head, thanking us for everything good thing we did in our life. A pastor who was a crazy witnesser spoke that to me in tears.

Plus, we consider ourselves as survivors on the lifeboats of the titanic. Did you know that some of those boats were not entirely full? Our job is to save people.

I agree it is useless to try to push God or Christianty on anyone. The reason most of us tell others about Jesus is that we believe the Bible tells us to do just that. We are suppose to care about our fellow man. If someone tells us to not bother them than we should respect their feelings. The reason we care is the same reason we care if they are in a burning building...we would try to get them out even if they are a stranger to us.

Excuse me (thump...thump).When we found Christ,it was like a light was turned on.That was the Holy Spirit waking up our spirit. We are born into the family of Adam ,body and soul, but our spirit is dead. That's what it means to be "Born Again".Born once thru the water of the womb, born again by the Spirit of God.Now were body soul and spirit. We know that sort of extra dimension and see that folks are walking around in 2 instead of 3 dimensions ,so to speak. There's no benifit ,it's just Hey,you really are missing something without it.
Some people witness 'cause they think they are gonna get "Brownie points"...I doubt that .God just puts that love in your heart and you want to share it that's all.
