Does the antichrist really have a number? Is it 616 or 666? Us Satanists have a favorite number. 8 . Because it always returns to itself. Just asking out of curiosity, not inflammitory. Thank you.

I've heard that 666 was a mistranslation and it's really supposed to be 616.

I do really hope it is 666. My name is Joshua Daniel Martin and wouldn't it be so exciting if I could be the Antichrist!
Then again I could just use my middle initial if it were actually 616.

The antichrist number was refering to Nero. Romans had numbers, and St Paul (was it Paul?) was trying to say that Nero was evil. He burned Christians and stuff, and he was crazy all around. He burned half of Rome to make a new palace and blamed it on the Christians. St Paul was a political prisoner, so he had to write in a way the the Christians of the time would understand but not be obvious. The whole Revelations has pretty much already happened....Jesus said we wouldn't know the time or anything so Revelations isn't really going to have those signs. I don't know about the rest though--the part about the book of life and such.

I'm not sure if the word "Antichrist" appears in the Revelation, but the number 666 does.

If you are not interested in prophetic interpretation on the level of Joseph or Daniel it hardly matters. You will always read the Word in a spotted fashion. It will not be beautiful or coherent to you.
The number is 666 - or 2x3 with triple digits.

That had been mistrued. Most translations have 666.
This was another ball thrown by the Roman Church to take our eyes of the VICARIUS FILII DEI (Vicar of Christ), or the pope; which when added in roman numerals = 666.
V = 5
I = 1
C = 100
A = 0
R = 0
I = 1
U = 5
S = 0
= 112
F = 0
I = 1
L = 50
I = 1
I = 1
= 53
D = 500
E = 0
I = 1
=501
112 + 53 + 501 = 666

In Revelation 13:16-18 it says that the mark of the beast is 666. Your question refers to the mark of the beast. However the answer is Salvation through Jesus Christ.

The number 666 is said to represent the Antichrist. I don't think it's in the Bible, at least I don't remember it. I am a Christian and I like the number 8 because for me it represents infinity.

It is six-hundred and sixty-six. Half of God's perfect number of 12 written three times to indicate complete imperfection. It is not the number of the antichristos, but the number of a certain man whose beastly treatment of the early Christian Church earned him the title of the Beast.
This man (actually there were two) was a certain historical personage alive and well when The Book of Revelation was written. But tell me, why do you ask? Your profile indicates that you are atheist/agnostic and don't even believe in a devil, much less God?
And not trying to be inflammatory but the Jews and early Christians considered '8' as one of their "good" numbers. Amazing, huh?
