Hello friend,
Within the body of your question/statement is one of the most profound and often misunderstood concepts of God's Word.
And as I read your question, would I be correct if I re-stated your question in this form: "Can a person lose Salvation?"
If you will permit me the generous space and time, I believe I can answer that question from the Book of God.
I strongly urge you to read any passage I cite, and by all means, check out what I say and measure it against God's Word.
Regarding Salvation, most folks come down in one of two camps
which might be summed up like this:
"Once saved, always saved"
and
"You can lose your salvation".
When referring to the "security of the believer", I avoid this terminology as it leads to confusion.
I prefer to use the language that Jesus used in Jn.3:3. He used the words "Born Again". See also 1.Peter 1:23 Now I suspect you've probably not heard someone say :
"Once Born Again always Born Again" or
"You can lose your Born Again".
Do you see what a difference words make?
Now I'm saying let's stay with the Biblical concept of the "New Birth". If you have been Born Again, read this GREAT NEWS:
Please please check out these verses.
2.Cor.5:17 - you are a New Creation in the New Birth.
1.Peter 1:5 - you are kept or protected by the POWER of God.
1Jn.5:12,13 - you have assurance of Salvation, and confidence of Eternal Life.
Ro.8:35-39 - NOTHING can separate you from the LOVE of God.
Jn.5:24 -Jesus is crystal clear about Eternal Life.
And from the Book you cited, Hebrews, look in chapter 7:25.
..."He is able to save FOREVER those who draw near to Him, since He ALWAYS lives to make intercession FOR us." (NASB)
(capitalization emphasis mine)
Now this is VERY IMPORTANT, look at Jn.10:28-30.
Jesus is the Giver of Eternal Life and He says in vs 28 ..."no one shall snatch them out of my hand."
Use your hand to represent His. Now take your open hand and close it into a fist. Inside that fist is the believer. Now with your other open hand as God's hand, place it over your closed fist, palm facing palm, and close it tight.
Now look at verse 29. Jesus says ...my Father is GREATER than all and ..."no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand."
There you are in the center completely surrounded by God's Love, Power and Protection. Pretty Secure?
Some one may say You can lose salvation, or "walk away from
God". Think so??? Consider this:
Ro.6:23 says Salvation is a gift.
Ro.11:29 says the "gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable"
Irrevocable = Impossible to retract or revoke.
Ezek. 36:26 - you have a new heart and spirit. Could you walk away from that?
Think about this, let's say you were genuinely saved. And YOU
decide to walk away. OK. If by that decision, you "lost your salvation", according to Matthew 7:23, Jesus would HAVE to be LYING when on the day of judgment He looks at you and says
"I never knew you".
Need more??? Last one.
Please look at Jeremiah 32:27. "Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for me?
Now in the same chapter, add to that verses 38-40. Please read
them. I'll quote verse 40.
"And I will make an EVERLASTING covenant with them that I will NOT turn AWAY from them, to DO them GOOD, and I will put the FEAR of Me in their hearts so that they WILL NOT turn away from Me."
Friend, I know this is a small book, but there is too much at stake to misunderstand or be mislead. God loves you and if you are His child, He may allow you to wander off, but He, in His Great Love and Mercy, will NOT let you go. For a time, in sin, we may lose FELLOWSHIP with God, but never RELATIONSHIP.
God bless you for your time.
2 Tim 2:7

The Heavenly gift are those who are Born Again and become the Bride of Christ, in leading the New Israelites (Christians) down the path to everlasting life. This is not a reward but a service, to be done voluntarily and without compensation. You feel completely different. You know things without knowing why. No, you can't heal or speak foreign languages you never learned. Those are no longer necessary to prove Christianity is right and died out with the last of the apostles.
What you don't lose by being Born Again is your freedom of choice, so you can choose to sin, but since you have been blessed by the Holy Spirit, you are than sinning against it, for which there is no forgiveness. You were chosen to fill an ultimate role for any human being in God's Kingdom. You would have been spending 1000 years helping to oversee the multitudes of humans who survived Armageddon, or took par tin the second resurrection. You would not have been participating in the actual rebuilding of the Earth back into a Paradise, tearing down all the structures and monuments of the old system. By committing willful sin, you turned your back on that ultimate gift and responsibility.
This only applies to those Born Again, not to the other sheep, that Christ said was not of this fold. Their choices do affect their ultimate reward, but they are still open to changing their ways. There are those who claim to be Born Again, simply to fit in, or to make them look important, so they do not come under the same limitations as those who do. Their rebirth needs to be based on accurate knowledge, not just assumptions.

What you have typed is the Unpardonable Sin.
To get into an Area of Spirituality where you can even commit this Sin (Baby Christians cannot commit the Unpardonable Sin) you have to do all of the Things you listed 1.been enlightened 2. tasted the Heavenly Gift 3. shared the Holy Spirit 4. tasted the Goodness of the Word of GOD and 5. the Powers of the World to come
do all of that THEN if you fall back into Sinning (not Lost yet) THEN keep on going away from GOD (Jesus) (not Lost yet) THEN come to a point where you tell Jesus that you don't want HIM NO MORE (Bingo, you just got Lost Again for Good).
Walking away from Jesus on Purpose Knowing what you are doing (being in a Position Spiritually to be able to even do it) IS THE UNPARDONABLE SIN, not drinking, cussing, murder, being gay, drugs, fornication etc.

Hebrews was written as an epistle to the Hebrews of that day and if you read the book it begins with how God spoke to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways. I dont believe there is a "hell" at least not the one we were taught in school, with a reighning evil demon, I once believed that God had created the "devil" now I have asked for enlightenment and know that God cannot create anything that is not good.
All good things come from our Father and I don't know about you I am so imperfect that I know I have not received the Holy Spirit, I believe that the apostles received the gift of the Holy Spirit after Jesus ascended to be with our Heavenly Father, and this is why they could heal the sick, spoke in tongues, miracles in other words due to the Holy Spirit having filled them.
We should all concentrate on doing good and not try and point out everyone's faults as Jesus taught us to stop looking at the speck in our brother's eyes but rather be concerned with the log that is in ours. Jesus did not come to save angels, he came for the sinners, so they may find everlasting life through Him.
I believe you are taking Hebrews verses out of context when you recite them as you did, the book was written for that time and yes in all things translated and mutilated and left out it may very well have had a different meaning altogether when it was originally written, but the message is clear, to stay as close to Jesus' teachings, once you accept that he has died for us and that if we stay within the law then we will love one another and forgive one another our shortcomings and pray for enlightenment and share knowledge so that many will be called and saved through our Lord Jesus Christ Amen.

Yes, if you keep sinning deliberately after having been saved there is no more forgiveness for you. That is if you keep sinning, if you stop and truly repent you will be forgiven, but you must stop. We all sin daily unintentionally. Remember the story of the prodigal son, how he left an led a life of sin, but when he returned to his father his father welcomed him back and gave him a ring, robe, sandals, and had a bull slaughtered. And how the father rejoiced because as he said; because this my son was dead and came to life again; he was lost and was found. And they started to enjoy themselves. This is how our heavenly Father, Jehovah God, feels about us. If we should fall away from the truth, he is delighted if we come to our senses and return to him with broken heart and spirit in repentance, seeking forgiveness. He is always ready to accept us back and forgive us if we are truly repentant for our wrong doing.

In Hebrews 6:4-6...The writer of this book was writing to Hebrew Christians who may have been considering a return to Judaism, perhaps because of immaturity, stemming from a lack of understanding of Biblical truths; and all believers in Christ.
In the first century, a pagan who investigated Christianity and then went back to paganism made a clean break with the church. But for Jewish Christians who decided to return to Judaism, the break was less obvious. Their lifestyle remained relatively unchanged. But by deliberately turning away form Christ, they were cutting themselves off from God's forgiveness. Those who perservere in believing are true saints; those who continue to reject Christ are unbelievers., no matter how well they behave.
In Hebrews 10:26 the writer is explaining when people deliberately reject Christ's offer of salvation, they reject God's most precious gift. They ignore the leading of the Holy Spirit, the one who communicates to us God's saving love This warning was given to Jewish Christians who were tempted to reject Christ for Judaism, but it applies to anyone who rejects Christ for another religion or , having understood Christ's atoning work, deliberately turns away from it(see also Numbers 15:30,31 and Mark 3:28-30). The point is that there is no other acceptable sacrifice for sin than the death of Christ on the cross. If someone deliberately rejects the sacrifice of Christ after clearly understanding the gospel teaching about it, then there is no way for that person to be saved, because God has not provided any other name under heaven by which we can be saved(see Acts 4:12)
Read the Book of 1John. It was written to reassure Christian
s in their faith and to counter false teachings. One of my favorite versus is 1John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

I've studied the test in question. In short- if a person back slided. Goes off the deep end. And reverts to his or her former life style. The bible says that the second condition of the man is worst than the first. In other words. He will have to put Christ back on the cross. And get down on his or her knees again and crucify Christ anew, and start over. Admittance is that state of mind will be very tough to do. So that's why the scripture says it is impossible.
But personally for myself, I walked in those shoes. I feel off the deep end. And finally got back on my knees, with the help of a loving friend. To restart anew isn't easy. So few find their way back alone.

I think you can definitely lose your salvation but it has to be a willing and ongoing choice of not repenting and turning back to God. God is a God of mercy - just look at King David, he broke all the 10 commandments in one day - but because he was truly repentant before God he was called a man after God's own heart.
I think there is a lot of false teaching about 'once saved always saved'. The bible says to work out your salvation with fear and trembling and I think some preachers preach only grace and forget to tell people to repent. Of course we are not perfect - that is why God sent His Son to die for our sins.
We do deserve to go to Hell, we have all broken Gods laws and fallen short of his glory, we have all knowingly sinned and that is why we need Jesus to pay the price of our sins for us - we cannot do it alone but we need to treat this gift with the reverence it deserves and do our best to live lives that are pleasing to God.

I do take those verses as inspired, but there are other passages in the Bible like the story of the prodigal which show God`s mercy. It seems to me Christians across most denominations disagree whether to stress his mercy or his holiness. Personally I do fear hell yes but I hope for forgiveness. As long as we are alive there is still hope, I believe.

And, if you keep my commandments and ENDURE to the end you shall have eternal life, which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God.
