You need to ask him and see what he says. Somethings to keep in mind are that if you two are exclusive with each other, he says "I love you" and that he wants to spend all of his free time with you. If really do not know how old you are so it does change based on age. So best way to find out is ask him and see what he says.

Serious is a big word. How old is he and how old are you? What do you expect for an answer here? Only he knows how he truly feels about you and he's probably not telling anyone, especially you.

is he dating anyone else? does he introduce you as his friend or girlfriend? does he look at other girls? do you go out in public or just have sex? have you met his family? i would say he's serious if he's not dating or looking at anyone else, not just in it for sex and you've met his family ... but the best way would be to ask him how he feels about the relationship
