for those of you who say you dont need evidence: have you ever read something or heard something and doubted it without evidence to back it up? it doesnt necessarily have to do with religion, but any kind of category. have you ever said, "show me the proof" to anything at any point in your life? if you think that proving something else, other than god or religion is different than proving a god exists, please explain. if you can, explain without saying that when it concerns your god, all you need is faith. if all you need is faith concerning your god and religion, shouldnt it be all you need for every other aspect of your life as well?

for those of you who say "the bible is my evidence": have you ever cited just one book while writing a research paper in school?

for those of you who just believe you know that your god is real, do you want others to accept your decision and belief? if no, then thats cool, but if yes, then are you willing to accept other people's belief?

The Bible is not one book. It is a library of 66 books.

Further, many well educated men have sought to disprove either the Bible itself or some of the material contained therein.

Simon Greenleaf, the founder of the Harvard Law School, was one of these. After doing the research, he concluded that the eyewitness accounts contained in the Bible would stand up to scrutiny in a court of law.

Of course, there is almost always a small amount of doubt in every Christians' minds. But every time i do my research, everything points in one direction-the God of the Old Testament and the Messiah of the New Testament. Read the historical proof, the archaeological evidence, and all the eyewitness accounts. Why would the disciples allow themselves to be martyred for a God and Messiah that didn't exist? Why would 2.2 billion people on this Earth openly call themselves Christians if it's nothing but a load of crap? Why would 86% of Americas claim that they believe in God if there was no truth or reasoning behind their belief?

I suggest you get some books or do not internet research about the evidence pointing for and against Christianity and the authenticity of the Bible. You will find that perhaps there is more to the Bible than crazy myths and morality tales.

I firmly believe in God and Jesus as the Messiah not only because of the evidence, but because of my personal connection with God. It is a true, genuine, one-on-one relationship with my Creator. It is not a "feeling", but just the simple, unshakable truth that God is with me and I can approach Him freely. You don't understand or believe this because you probably have never experienced it, but I can guarentee that if you open your mind and your heart to God, you will find Him.

God bless!!

Why do we need evidence?

The Bible is the basis that there is God who created the universe, but is there any proof that the BIg Bang is true?

Anyways, we can say that the Bible is not used in research papers, but most of the theories in science are not based on facts. As time goes by, science is changing, because of its perspective and on the theories of the scientists like the phlogiston theory. I've read that the science changed its paradigms, rejecting the old and accepting the new.

However, it is up to you if you can consider that the Bible is the basis of truth and that God is real. But we should consider that science has a part also that is not based on mere facts.

In your question that if I am accepting other's belief, I accept because of what the Bible says, free will. Free will is universal.

I am not comparing science to religion. I am just pointing out that there are really loopholes in each field. You just need is to believe.

I worship the living God of Heaven and I know that He is real. I have evidence from my personal life that the unbelieving would categorize as coincidence of lucky breaks.

For instance, one time when I was tempted to get drunk shortly after getting out of a rehab program and having been a Christian for only 5 months after I found out some bad news about getting laid off at work, the Holy Spirit reminded me of this verse of Scripture.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

I was only makin $9.50 an hour at the time and I told God that it didn't seem like He had a great plan for my life but instead of getting drunk I was going to watch closely to see how He was going to work it out. The very next day I heard about another job and without going into too much details after a couple of months I had gone on to become a security team leader at the airport and in my first year I made over $52,000 dollars in a job in which I had no prior experience.

That's just one of many examples that I could give you of supernatural guidance and provision I have received from my God whom I came to through Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

Faith is the key element, you're certainly right about that.

Throughout our lives, we put our faith in such things as "our parents love us", "science is THE tool for explaining the universe", "vegetables are good for us", "logic is the absolute pinnacle of human intellectual capability" et cetera.

These things can feed our minds and bodies in terms of convincing ourselves of "what is enough" to sustain us.

However, for many many more, there is an aspect of life that faith in God satisfies, which none of the other things can satisfy. Some people call this aspect "spirituality", or "spiritual hunger/thirst".

Whatever it is, personally I have found that putting my faith in God satisfies that. And that is something that logic/parental love/food/pleasure simply cannot reach.

Its the sixth dimension, sixth sense. Heck, I don't know what it is. And any attempt by me or my fellow man to describe it would simply not be satisfactory.

I guess that just shows that humans have limits, and beyond those limits, God can satisfy many of us in areas where humans cannot.

I know "my" God is real because I have felt him. It's like knowing that air is real. You can't see it. Most of the time you can't feel it. You just know it's there. I've felt many times the existence of a God.

Sure some might say that it's my own emotions or whatever, but let them say it. I believe that God made it that way on purpose. What does it hurt anybody else if I "think" I know that God exists?

You might answer, "Well, there are people out there who's God tells them to hurt people," to which I would reply that that's not the God that I know about.

What kind of evidence are you asking for? History backs up much of the Bible, people, places events. They happened. There are many things in the Bibles that deal with things of faith, not so easily proved. Faith is the belief in things not seen and how do you measure that?

If even one story in the Bible can be proved true then is it then a book of myths. Many think that it is, many think that it is totally made up. Then there are many that believe that it is true.

For those that believe that it is nothing but myths and fair tails, well nothing you show them and call it proof is going to change their mind.

Those like myself how believe, well I can't see myself changing my beliefs either.

what one may see as proof another can come alone and say it is not. that takes us back to the faith issue. Faith is a funny thing, in and of itself, you can't see it. yet for those who have it, it is very real to them. Faith, the belief in things not seen, understanding in things that are not understandable and nonsense to those who do not have it. How can that be proved?

Faith is not just blind following, but there are many that will do just that. Faith does not mean that one throws away science to follow magic. But faith can't be measure by science yet.

As one who believes can I accept that someone else has other beliefs, sure. Does it mean that I have to agree? No really. Does it mean that I condemn them for their beliefs? Not at all. Sometime you have to agree to disagree and be respectful of that.

I can't make someone else believe what I believe, I won't even try. I look at my faith this way, if it is real to me then I take the time to learn it, then I model my life in the manner in which my faith leads. I choice to believe that Jesus is the Son of God. My choice to make. By that I need to learn what he taught, how he lived and model my life in that manner. Sound good but not so easy. Still it is the goal. If I live my life by my faith it will show without me ever having to say a word. That is faith in action.

If someone choose not to believe as I do then that is their choice. I am okay with that, I can only live my life and I do a fine job of messing that up. However if someone asks the I will tell them. Again not pushing but answering.

But for me the real question is can you accept me for my beliefs? Others will not.

I know because we have conversations. I feel his presents. The Bible is not just one book . It"s 66 books compiled into one. I would like for others to share my beliefs. I don't force them on anyone. I accept the beliefs of others { I do not have to agree} I know all will not believe as I do . Because the word says "He that will let him come"
. It did not say All will come and all will believe. Faith is an individual thing. To each his own.

When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, Holy Spirit comes to live in you and guide you. I believe that the Bible is God's life manual for us. God talks us through His word.

My life is the evidence. My life is the testimony.

God gave you a freewill.I do not know any greater love than with choice. He respects your choice, so do I.

For many years I did not believe, then this happened to me.

Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.

While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.

Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.

I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.
During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.

I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. It is as though God sees us as being as perfect as we were the day we were created. It is only in our confused idea of ourselves that we seem to have changed.

I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck. Love and blessings.

Your brother don
