It seemed like two weeks ago I filled up my car at about $2.85/gallon now the cheapest that I found around West Lafayette, Indiana was $2.20. What happened to cause the sudden decrease in price? Did we find more oil? Are companies feeling pressure from the government for price gauging? What happened?

It has gone down due to a surplus of oil. This is partly because of a lack of hurricanes in the gulf to interupt oil supply. It has also gone down due to easing tension in the middle east. The conflict has settleed and negoations with Iran are still ongoing and showing some signs of hope. There are many factors that go into decided oil prices, but these are a few of the main factors.

Because the Middle East thought we as a country were going to get off foreign oil and go to more Hybrid cars.
Also cause the Middle East is funded by oil sales and that money goes to terrorist. They need income to kill us.
Also they want low oil prices so people go buy boats, big SUV's and get hooked on low gas price. Then threaten to stop production in a few years and ruin US economy.
That is what they want. And you will see in a few years.

Try living in Britain where the petrol (gas) is £4.98 a gallon for unleaded or 89pence a litre or put another way approximately $8 a gallon, and that's come down from £1 or $1.89 a litre or $10.58 a gallon.

As always happens this time of the year people start driving less. Kids are in school no more vacation to use. Less demand means reserves have gone up. Less Demand = more product on hand= lower prices.

If you would listen to the news you would know that the price of crude has dropped dramatically which inturn causes our gas to go down and it generally isn't a rapid decrease it usually trickles down we were up at 2.85 and it has only gone down to 2.75 in the last two weeks

Let's see...we put oil billionaires in charge of the country. They thought they could raise prices to any level they wanted.....soon found out that $3 a gallon hurt the odds of their buddies getting elected/reelected.....then prices dropped a little.

The irony is we're just stupid enough to fall for it.

One of the reasons is that it's the end of driving season (summer) though that typically doesn't have such a big decrease as we're seeing now. It sure does help though.
