I got it done on saturday and it was good. I followed all of the instructions. I am putting frag. free lotion on it, but the swelling is down in my hand and arm. My arm is a little warm and a little painful still. It is not really red but it is swollen. What do I do?

My new tat doesn't have any pus or discharge or anything, but around a couple spots it is a little red. I have been icing it and keeping it elevated.

Yes that is very VERY normal. I have 5 tattoos and each one of them was swollen and hurt bad afterwards. Just keep rubbing the AD ointment on it and you will be fine!

The warmth indicates infection. Ice it down at night and only use neosporin or bacitracin on the tattoo. Is there any red or yellow in it? Sometimes you could be allergic to these colors. If the symptoms persist or get worse, call a Dr. for an antibiotic. Tattoos do swell but not like you describe.

That is normal. It is an open wound and it needs to heal. If you have any questions go to the tat artist that did your tat and have them check it out. Make sure you keep it clean.

By now it should have gone down some... if it gets worse or it doesn't get better in a day or 2 I would go immediately to the doctor.

You need to see a doctor. Sounds like an infection and could be serious. Why in the world would you get a tattoo on your lower arm? See, do something stupid and you start paying the price!!!

Just keep lotion on it. If it starts getting really sore and going down hill and not getting better, go to your doctor and get it checked out.

go to the tattoo shop where you got it done at and they will tell you if anything is wrong and if so,they will also tell you what you need to do about it
