Yup, they always say that.

I remember calling the company who networked our computers, and asking them why it says that.

He said, "Because it is unplugged." LOL.

It's not a bad thing. Wireless = Unplugged

Laptops of today typically have 3 ways of accessing the internet.
1. Using an Ethernet cable plugged into a Router or Cable/DSL modem.
2. Using WiFi to connect to a Wireless router or to a WiFi hotspot.
3. Using old-fashioned Dialup.

If you are connecting via methods 2 or 3, your laptop will tell you that your ethernet cable is unplugged. This is true because you do not need an ethernet cable to be plugged in if you are connecting via either WiFi or Dialup.

it will probably be the internal network card which you use for a wired connection to a router or other ethernet device.

you will likely be using your wireless network card in your laptop for your internet access and so that's why you don't notice any effect from the network cable being unplugged.

the local area connection is just a means to connect your laptop with a wire to a network device instead of using wireless.

They don't usually lie about such things. The only time I saw that message when it wasn't true is when a lightning blast about 20 feet away fried my network card. Double check that your connection is solid. It seems strange that you can connect to Internet because that says network card is OK. Do you use a cable connection for the internet (or is it wireless - in which case the complaint is not relevant)?

If you have a network (LAN) cable connected I don't know what to say.
But, If you are using a wireless connection, then the icon should say the network (LAN) cable is unplugged.

it may sound stupid, yet examine your modem to work out if there are any lighting fixtures furniture on. you could unplug & replug the two ends of the ability grant (in the wall and in the modem) and the two ends of the community twine. additionally attempt plugging it right into a distinctive port on the modem. look at the two ends of the community twine to work out if the plastic ends are working loose or in the event that they have not got a good fit in the ports. If the little tab on the plastic end broke off, the twine could be loose. If the tab remains there, however the plug isn't tight, attempt wrapping a rubber band around the plastic end and push it up below the tab to make it fit tight. I even have additionally seen issues whilst the community cable gets pinched below furnishings or the plastic chair mat.
