GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICHES
First, you take 2 breads. And then you take 1 piece of yellow cheese and put the grilled cheese in the toasted. You cook it for 5 minutes. When it looks crusty you must take it out of the toaster. Put the other cheese on top of the bread. Then put the other top on top of the cheese. Then you cut the sandwich in half (two pieces).
Just eat it with Pepsi. Remember not to smack your lips. My Mom tell me that! My Dad tell me not to smack my lips too.

Spread butter/margarine on 2 slices of bread.
Slice enough cheddar (That's American cheddar, it just doesn't work with English Cheddar) cheese to cover the sliced bread.
On a hot grill, place the first slice of bread *butter side down* then the cheese over and top it with the other slice *butter side up* (So the butter is actually on the outside of the sandwich.
Allow the sandwich to heat up, making sure the cheese has started to melt before you flip it over. The grilled bread should be a medium brown colour.
Continue to grill until both sides are even and brown.
You can serve it many ways, but I prefer it that it is sliced into 2 triangles (for some reason it just tastes better...) served with tomato soup and some pickles. Some people also dip the grill cheese into ketchup. Mmmm!

It is very easy ! Heat a large pan over medium-high heat for 2 minutes. Put two slices of bread with a slice of cheese in the middle in the skillet. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the undersides are golden brown and the cheese has begun to melt. Turn the sandwiches with a spatula. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted. Turn once more and cook for 30 seconds. Remove from pan and let cool for 3 to 5 minutes.

There are several ways:
1. "grease" the bread on one side of each slice. use either soft butter, soft margerine (which is not at all healthy) personally I use "pam" spray (or some similar no calorie cooking spray).
2. place greased slices in a skillet, frying pan, griddle, butter side down.
3. put cheese on the bread. 2 slices of american is how most restaurants do it. I personally love sharp cheddar. with sliced tomato. You can also use low fat cheese.
4. put heat onto medium-low. (you can preheat your pan while you grease the bread) If you try to cook it fast by having higher than medium heat on the stove, you will burn the bread. yuck.
5. after a couple of minutes (4 or so) put the slices together. or you can make the sandwich and flip it over to cook other side, my way is a little faster though.
When the bread is golden colored, and a little crusty, and the cheese is melted, it's done.
You can also make in a toaster oven with no fat/grease on the bread.this is how my 12 year old boy does it when he's hungry (always!!) put it on the toaster pan though! 2 slices of bread with cheese inbetween. toast on medium. flip it over. toast on medium.

There are so many good answers...
I shall comment:
It is SO much easier if the butter is warm or you use a softened spread.
I almost always use Velveeta brand cheese and normal white bread A cheese slicer helps here.. The kind of cheese and to a different extent the kind of bread alters the taste.
You need a medium heat and the butter because the aim here is to toast the bread on the outside and leave it soft on the inside. You should peek from time to time or you will burn the bread.
When younger I always ate them with cream of tomato soup
.. 1 can milk, one can soup, sprinkle in some dried onion flakes about 1/2 t maybe more to taste, an 1/2 t butter and a dash of black pepper (and now I like a dash of red pepper and sometims a thumb size chunk of cheese) heat on stove or in microwave until warm enough to eat.
cream of potato same .. just can of soup different.

Ok here's what I do I heat the pan to a med temp like 4 or so on my stove I use cooking spray and spray the pan. Put two slices of bread and a slice of cheese together sit it in the pan and let it cook on one side for like a min or you can keep lifting it up to see what color it is I do this cuz sometimes I want it a little darker or sometimes lighter then flip and do that to the other side by then the cheese on the inside will have melted

This is the best recipe:
2 slices of French bread
2-3 slices of American Cheese
Mayonaise
Skillet
Heat the skillet on Medium.
Spread Mayonaise on both sides of the bread. Add the cheese.
Place in pan, keeping the temp. on Medium to low so as not to scorch the bread. Once the bread is golden brown, flip the sandwich and cook the other side to a golden brown.
Place on plate, cut in half.
The mayonaise adds a distinct taste to the sandwich, which you won't get using butter or margarine.
Enjoy.

I love doing these in a George Foreman grill. Butter two pieces of bread. Put the buttered side of one bread on the pre-heated grill. Layer a couple of pieces of cheese - I like semi sharp Cheddar on the bread. Put the other slice of bread on top w/the buttered side showing. Lower the lid & toast. Super simple & my favorite comfort food w/a can of tomato soup w/some grated parmesan when I am under the weather.

Drive to your favorite grill. Park. Find a good seat with a view. Ask the the waitress for a grilled cheese sandwich with or without tomato. If your over twenty-one, a beer is good. Enjoy. Calories/Carbs, depends on the tomato.
