There is no home remedy for heartworm.
The treatment from the vet could kill your dog if you do not follow the aftercare instructions exactly.
The only way to try and save your dog is with treatment from the vet.
After treatment keep your dog on heartworm preventative. It is much cheaper to prevent it than to treat it.

We had a dog that came up with heart worms. Have the Vet show you them either in a bottle or if they keep a video. It is heart breaking. They told us then with treatment our dog had a 50/50 chance to make it through the treatment. It's a strong poison they used then...I do not know what they use today. Our dog made it through the treatments and survived. He lived to be 16 years old in people years. He passed away only 2 years ago. Our Vet called him a "Happy Happy Dog"
when he was alive. We treated him well and made sure his shots were up to date and every problem addressed.
Do the right thing by your pet...he has been there for you through your good times and bad..please do the same for him.

There is no home remady, You should prob find a cheaper vet in your area. It should not cost that much. It is an intramuscular injection or a series of injections that will kill the larval heartworms. Unfortuantly heartworms are deadly and you should search your local vets for one that is not so rediculusly over priced. Interceptor is a super cheap (around 50 bucks for 6 months of prevetion) way to prevent heartworms.
Good luck and find another vet

There is no home remedy. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if your dog isn't treated by the vet, he will die.

There is the possibility that he could die even with treatment, but without treatment, the chances are 100% that you will lose him. I'm sorry.

Ask the vet if he is willing to take payments. If he isn't, call around and find a vet that will.

How do you KNOW your dog DOES have heart worms?????

There is no such thing as a *home remedy* for heart worms...just prevention. Get that dog to the vet NOW!!! If you don't you could very well be charged with animal neglect/abuse!!!! If you don't get the animal to the vet NOW, I hope that you WILL be charged!!!

Ivermectin is what he'll PRESCRIBE if the worms haven't eaten too much of the heart yet. Otherwise the dog will have to be put down.

as far as i am concerned there is no way i would take the risk of doing a home remedy for something as serious as heart worms. i have a rott that had them about 5 years ago and it was well worth the money to have him treated by a professional. he is still slive a kicking to this day and i set a payment plan with the vet. talk to them about a monthly payment thing.

The only home remedy is death. The vet is the only option for your pooches survival. In the future give them preventative medicine its much more cost effective and responsible.

the quote i got for mine was only $400. call the local humane society and ask them if there are any vets that work on a sliding scale, that accept payments, or who can do it for less. they want you to get the treatment for your pet and will direct you to the right vet.

There is NO home remedy. Work out a payment plan with your vet or put it to sleep. It's a slow, painful death.
