You shouldn't base the value of a relationship on the method you use to communicate with him. Whether by phone, or as a pen pal via snail mail -- gee whiz. You either like the person, or you don't. You either want to be with them, because something about them really rocks your world. It sounds to me, from your question, that perhaps you want a boyfriend in the here & now - perhaps one you can take around and show to others. If that's what you want in a relationship - "arm candy" - then call it quits. If there is truly something unique and powerfully wonderful about this person, then who the heck cares how you communicate, just make sure you still can. There is no "normal" in relationships - it's what's right for the two of you. good luck.

You said this friend of yours is from France but did not mention where you were from. If there is a great deal of distance between the both of you then text messaging may be the way to go due to the cost of phone communications. However that is a good question for your friend to answer via text message. Why don't you call me on the telephone. Then he can answer for himself. I just wondered since you've already been on a few dates you should know if he is visiting with friends in the area or vacationed here and gone back to France. If you could provide greater detail to the questions addressed above then this question could be addressed.

Personally i do not like talking on the phone. I used to like it but working in telemarketing a few moth took that away. So now on the phone I'm very business like i cant really express what i feel that way. I like the text messaging a little more, but I'm starting to dislike the ting too ( too many misunderstandings) i keep these two means of communication to the minimum. Their is noting better than a eye to eye conversation.

If your not feeling him then get out. And if you have concerns about the relationship talk to him first!

unless you communicate on the phone or face to face, it won't last. After a while you will realize that it doesnt feel like a real relationship.

I don't talk on the phone with my fiancé, we IM during the day, and talk in person at night. I hate talking on the phone, and so does he.

Go with your gut. If it doesn't feel quite right, and you both can't seem to get it quite right, then it's not right.
