awwww I'm sorry to hear that. I really doubt anything bad will happen. If a dog can eat their own poop eating a dead fish should be nothing!

Depends on what kind fish it was.If was the size of goldfish or beta , I don't think there is much to worry about.
But that is not how you handle the death of a fish. If it had been a cat who died would you have thrown it out of the window?
Even if your daughter is very young she has the right to know.
I think the proper way to tell a kid about the death of a fish ; is you put it to her in a simple way.
Here's an example of what I'm thinking.I'm not a parent but I think have heard of this way to do it . Let's call the fish , Mr.Fishy and your daughter Maya.
" Maya, Honey I am sorry but Mr. Fishy died ". An affective way to explain death to a young child ; " Mr. Fishy wasn't feeling so good he got sick , he got so sick he died. Mr. Fishy has gone to heaven , he'll be taken very good care of".
That's kind of how my explained my Grandma's death and at the time I was 17. Maybe before you barry the fish or flush him down the toilet let your daughter give him a few last words about how much she liked him. That might help her ease the pain . It's going to be hard but " Mr. Fishy" had to go sometime.
I hope this will help.

I agree since it had just died it will not hurt the dog..but it also depends on the size of the fish...just do not want the dog to carry the bugger in the house in it's mouth while you daughter is present! That would take some splainin!

The dog will be fine. Your daughter however should not be shielded. My four year old is very familiar with death. My mom died before she was born. We've also had a dog and two fish die. She is not scared or upset about death, sad maybe. But she knows that all things ahve to die.

I would tell her so she doesn't,t panic when she finds the fish missing. Also I would tell her because if she figured how you through out the window for the dog to eat I think she would be pretty steamed and might be mad for a while at you so I would tell her.

The fish won't hurt the dog. I would have just told the daughter since she would see that the fish was gone anyway, so why keep it secret?

Well I presume it wasn't a large bony fish. I'm sure he'll be fine.

Your daughters gonna be POed though. That was kinda thoughtless on her behalf don't you think?
