Possibly because they are set in context in their minds, and , maybe, they are unable to fully explain themselves using the written word by converting their thoughts into a question?
I think it is like the situation that arises when people think you know what they are thinking and, as a result, fail to communicate in complete sentences when you are conversing with them.
Not sure that makes them morons - just not too good at self-expression. I have noticed that some people also ask questions on two levels which appear silly at first but are a little more sinister when they are read - no I am not thinking of any in particular.
I do understand your frustration sometimes though. Microsoft even have a helpful site which explains what can go wrong when posing questions and why they can be irritating sometimes.

I don't think you're a moron. Or silly for that matter. Many people like to judge others out of insecurity about their own worth. It's nothing to be ashamed about. We all grow at different rates. We start by generally trashing everything out there that winds us up, only to find that we do the same things and are in fact judging ourselves. It's the judging itself that's at fault. And when you realise that you'll accept yourself and the world as the amazing thing that it/we/you are. We're truly amazing when we stop judging and start appreciating.

Because we are morons and drunk.
I'd hate to be sensible like you
Is legitimate the right word you are looking for?
Seem sensible would have made more sense
It's only a bit of fun lighten up

Good question to ask here... I wonder the same thing when someone posts a question about some severe medical problem instead of going to a doctor, or a question about something simple that they could just google and find out for themselves.

Because they are not a moron in their own mind and probably the minds of others. If you find the question moronic, ignore it and move on.

For the same reason self righteousness is such a widespread disease. Quite a few people are unable to take a step back and see the silly side of themselves.
And sometimes it happens (to all of us) that things that seem ridiculous to others make perfect sense to ourselves.

Because the answer is not obvious to them. Hence why they asked.
I would say the reason they asked also shows their innocence of the answer. Most people feel stupid for asking a silly question, so the fact they've asked it shows lack of understanding. :)
