Do you know you are supposed to store wine on it's side so that the wine is always touching it and keeping it moist?
Get a little wine rack that holds a few bottles.

If you are doing that and they are still drying out, it is a mystery.

Hope that helps!

As said before, store your wine on the side and in a dark place with a constant temp. How can you have wine that lasts long enough for the corks to dry? I make my own, and a batch of 6 gallons usually only lasts a few months! I do use the polymer corks and they don't have to be stored on the side and no dry out problems. (Maybe we use too much wine? I cook with it and we often have friends over and can easily finish off two bottles in a night)!

One reason might be the manner in which you are storing your wine. The wine bottle needs to be stored on its side or upside down so that the wine itself keeps in constant contact with the cork. The contact of wine to cork should keep the cork from drying out.

Also, keep your wine out of the light, especially sun light. And try not to store your wine in a room where the temperature will fluctuate a lot. This can ruin your wine and the cork.

it's true...your storing them wrong.

However, newer wines are now being bottled with a type of latex plug. never have to worry about that cork again!

You have to keep them wet by laying bottle on its side.
