Feed him a quality dies, such as www.frrco.com/121668 and give him plenty of exercise...walks and such. Fetch, swimming, whatever activities you like.

Many things will affect the "mass of your dog," the biggest being genetics. Diet, exercise, proper care so many things influence the dogs development.

Good luck!

be very careful to build muscle and endurance - NOT just sheer size, i.e., FAT.

swimming is an excellent low-joint-stress activity, very aerobic; just be sure that the dog doesn't get over-tired, as they CANNOT 'float'. as soon as they quit moving, dogs start to sink like rocks... so be very aware of how tired the dog is, and watch for signs of exhaustion.

overtired muscles, in dogs as well as ppl, produce lactic acid; a warm SPRAY-Bath will stimulate the lactic acid to move out of the muscles, and into the lymph glands for removal. it will be excreted by the Kidneys... so keep any dog who is exercising well-hydrated.

any good quality food with MEAT as ingredient #1, no by-products, no wheat/corn/soy in any form, and only ONE carb-source, is a good dog-food.

avoid artificial preservatives, especially BHA/BHT, and ethoxyquin; safe preservatives include anti-oxidants {vit A, C or E, or tocopherols from plants].

build endurance SLOWLY - U want the dog to enjoy exercise, and over-stressing the dog can lead to JOINT injury.

ask Ur vet about any exercise program, before U begin it: Ur dog may have joint problems that are invisible without an X-ray, or a heart murmur, etc.
Good Luck!
