My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

Well, Fiona, sorry I missed you. Was never able to catch the show. You'll think this is a joke but it works for me. I eat one standard chocolate bar (I eat milk chocolate but science says dark chocolate is better--has more antioxidants) about 60-70 minutes before mealtime. That gives the sugar time to get into the bloodstream and signal my brain that my blood sugar level is up and I don't need to eat so my brain tells me I'm not hungry. At mealtime when I eat less it more than makes up for the 210 calories in the chocolate. I call it the Green Bay Diet since every diet seems to be named after a city or doctor.

Tracking what I eat in a journal has been really helpful for me. It makes it a lot more real to see it in black and white exactly how much I'm taking in, and then a lot easier to stop when I reach a certain limit which is acceptable to me.

I am currently using a free diet website called http://www.sparkpeople.com and using the nutrition and fitness trackers to track calories consumed and burned. It's VERY motivating.

You need to burn the same amount of calories you consume. Very difficult for me! In reality remember this, lose weight: burn more calories than consumed, maintain weight: burn same amount of calories consumed, gain weight: consume more calories than you burn.
Congrats on 4th place. I don't remember who you are, I just couldn't watch the show. I just wanted to say I'm also 23 and I give you so much credit for going on t.v. to lose weight.

Just stay active and watch what you eat. It's really that simple.
