I assume you are limiting your question to western culture and excluding prostitutes from your sample.
I think if you took the "Median" number of one night stands it would be for lower for women than men.
Having said that the average might not be much different because a small percentage of women with high sex drives can get one night stands whenever they want. Men on the other hand are limited in the number of consenting partners they can find.
In simple terms, there are probably a small number of "slappers" who rack up VERY high numbers of one night stands and the majority of women who have very few.

surely in order for a man to have a one night stand there has to be a women there and if a women has a one night stand there has to be a bloke. And if its a one night stand then neither of them either way round get together. So there for the numbers should be the same cuz each time theres a one night stand theres 1 bloke 1 women that both clocked up a point. lol ha

i dont actually know the answer without doing a world survey,lol but i think its easier for a woman to have a one night stand than a man...most women no matter what shape or size could pull a bloke on a night out if they really wanted as they have wonderful sexual prowess men are more visual and instant and are fairly content with the one night idea...on the other hand i think its harder for a bloke to pull for a one nighter because women are usually more interested in a mans character and maybe a bit longer than one night so i dont know if women have more one night stands but i think they would find it easier to pull a bloke than a bloke pulling a woman...good luck ;0)

Yeah it takes 2 to tango don't forget. i think men just talk about it more because it is seen as a conquest to them where as a woman may get a bad name. Although things are changing in this new age just look at the amount of women looking for sex and one night stands on sites like www.TheSexLocator.com
Women just don't talk about it as much as men

probably. because i think that men will have sex with mostly anyone ugly, pretty, nice mean, they just want whats between the legs . But! A woman will not, even if she is all those things. she will be choosy. so what Im saying is woman have more options than the men especially if shes hot, and can spearate lust from love.
