I like him, he likes me. Everyone is happy, except his mom.
I am not Jehovah's Witness, she is, and she's not ok with me not being.

Help?

Note: I am actually a girl, I was just playing with the Avatars, and my comp. won't let me change back...

Any who. I don't want to change her, I just need a few tips to help me cope.

Thanks!

He is JW too, but he doesn't seem to be as Fanatical as she is.

That's a tough situation, people with religious beliefs are usually very steadfast in them. What I would do is be yourself, talk with her, let her know your personal views and what you have faith in, she may find that you both desire the same qualities in life. Although Jehovah's Witnesses are pretty devout about their children marrying into the religion (or so I've seen) so this might take some time.

But if he's serious about you then he also needs to defend you to his mother and explain why he feels the way he does about you. Don't fight this alone, it's his mom he definetely needs to back you up and let her know your good qualities.

Eventually she'll either have to accept his decision or their relationship may suffer, ultimately it's his happiness that matters.

First of all, why do you have a male avatar when you're a girl? If you like each other, it doesn't matter if his mom is Jehovah's Witness. You didn't say if he is. If he is, then you need to read all about his religion before you get serious. If he isn't, his mother should not try to push her religion on you.

It seems that the simplest solution is for the questioner to simply study and become a Jehovah's Witness herself. The mother is correct in understanding the Scriptures to teach that one should marry within one's religion.

(Exodus 23:32) You are not to conclude a [marriage or other] covenant with them or their gods.

(Deuteronomy 7:3) And you must form no marriage alliance with [unbelievers]. Your daughter you must not give to his son, and his daughter you must not take for your son.

(1 Corinthians 7:39) She is free to be married to whom she wants, only in the Lord.

(Nehemiah 13:25) You should not give your daughters to [the unbeliever's] sons, and you should not accept any of their daughters for your sons or yourselves.

(2 Corinthians 6:14) Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers.

Yeah, JWs are major league strange. If he's out of the cult enough and can deal with his mother you may be home free. BUT if he's not, there will come a time when he'll be told to get rid of you or leave the cult. And he'll have to choose. It won't be easy on him.

His mom liking you helps, but it is not a prerequisite for a lasting relationship. She will get to know you if your relationship endures. Lots of times religious objections disappear when people realize their child has found a wonderful person. Good luck and treat her kindly, she doesn't mean harm, she is used to protecting her child.

Tell her she's not really a Jehovah's Witness, she hasn't seen him.

If he's a mama's boy it's hopeless, move on.

If he doesn't like her or rejects her beliefs, just deal. Mothers can be a real pain.

There's nothing you can do. You have to respect her traditional up-bringing.
