There are two different types of contractions. There are birthing contractions, which hurt, and those called Braxton Hicks contractions. Braxton Hicks can occur at anytime during the late second trimester and on. Your stomach will go rock hard but you shouldn't have any pain. The Braxton Hicks (also called by many "false labor") contractions prepare your uterus for full birth and should only happen infrequently and shouldn't last very long or be regular. I started experiencing these types early on in my fourth month of pregnancy and though they raise a bit of an alarm, it usually just means you need to take it a bit easier. Just remember TELL YOUR DOCTOR if you experience ANY contractions so s/he can make sure you and your child are healthy.

Contractions HURT! They feel like the worst menstrual cramps EVER and they happen in a patten. If you think you feel this then you need to go to the emergency room because you could be having a miscarriage! But it just SOUNDS like you are feeling the baby move. It is never too early to feel the baby move! Everyone is different.

At 16 wks the baby isn't big enough to feel it's feet. Sounds like contractions, make sure you keep hydrated. The only reason I had contractions that early was when I was dehydrated.
Good luck!

neither. at 16 weeks the baby's movements are so weak (I mean it's very active but you can hardly recognize the movements), they feel more like very light touches, or butterflies (everyone describes them differently). And don't worry it's not contractions.
Not sure what that is, but I know for sure, it's normal and happens often to most women. Of course, if it troubles you, check with your OB.

Maybe you're already starting to feel those Braxton Hicks contractions. Is this your first baby? YOu feel them sooner with each pregnancy...if they're not painful, you're fine. But best to tell your Dr too.

Theres nothing wrong your fine.
If you are afraid about something you should direct any question that you may be concerned about to your OB/GYN on your next prenatal visit.
