I live in Lower Alabama, and yes there were Panthers in Alabama, there are bob cats, and wild pigs as well. I still beleieve that there are Panthers though, I know people that hunt and have seen them. Being so close to the Florida line, I am sure they do cross over from state to state.

there sure are, we have mountain lions (puma), panthers (rare)
and jaguarundi (looks like small puma)
and there are more in the southern half of the state
