I really want to lose some weight, not a lot, like 30 pounds or so by the end of this school year. (June) I think that is plenty of time, or maybe more than I need. I bike 3-4 times a week for 4 miles, plus I have PE for 2 days for about two hours. (We don't do strenuous activities or anything, but I hope you get what I mean.) I am trying to estimate how much I could lose by December, and then March, and then June. I estimate I could lose between 5-10 pounds by December, if I continue what I've been doing. I've already lose 4 pounds by cutting down on what I eat. What do you think/estimate?

well research and a good style of life and working out and eating healthy can make you lose 1-2 pounds per week. it is really recent research that shows that proof and backs it up.. dont forget to eat breakfast and since you are working out you need carbs which help you with the energy...i give it between 12-24 pounds by December depending on how many pounds you lose/week: 12=1 lb/ week x4 weeks in a month= 4 lbs./monthx3 months=12 lbs.
if u do the 2 lbs a week: 2lb/week x 4 weeks in a month=8 lbs/month x3 months=24 lbs.

but to lose this wt. you need lots of cardio and weights! do cardio 3 or 4 times a week and weights 2-3 times a week. i think that you could lose more than 5-10 lbs if you wanted to and if you made small changes in your life besides the food part: take the stairs not the elevator, park your car further away when you go shopping, walk your dog if you have one on a daily basis. also make smarter decisions about food, nutrition-indulge once in a while!-and look on the labels. PE by itself will help to a certain extent..and same goes with riding your bike...get together with a bunch of friends and work out and that will keep you going and motivated-walking, jogging, etc.

My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

To lose weight, a person has to reduce the calorie intake by some amount by modifying their diet. A diet without sufficient nutrients will only increase the appetite of the person trying to lose weight. Since most people combine a diet with an exercise plan, additional nutrients are required for the growth of muscles required to increase the metabolic rate required for long term weight loss.
