A 10 year old Rottweiler is like a 70 year old person and pretty tough to change anyone that age. You've heard the expression that it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks and that is going to apply here as much as I hate to say that. I would be careful of the dog because I believe the dog probably senses you as an intruder to his "pack" of himself and your boyfriend and when a dog feels like this it's not going to be happy. Hopefully in time the dog will feel like you're part of the group too but it's not going to come easy. I think one way you might be able to ease into things is if your boyfriend always has you be the one to feed the dog from this point on. That very well may help. Good luck with this.

I went thru almost the same with my bfs rott.
I could feed him, take him for rides in the car and for walks, feed him ice cream from the Dairy queen and buy him cheeseburgers. That stupid dog slept in the bed with me when he went to work and yet he still would turn on me in a heartbeat.
I'd come home from work before my bf and that dog would be growling at me with his eyes glowing red he was so mad.He never bit me but I could tell that he truly wanted too if only he'd not be in terrible trouble when his daddy got home.
He never got as bad as what you're going thru but no matter how much time and attention I gave that dog it was made clear that he was only tolerating my being there as long as it benefitted him.As soon as it did'nt it was a major battle just to get thru my own door. And you'll probably have to live like I did-watching my back at all times.

Bribery. Give it lots and lots of treats.
Other than that... if you moved in 10 months ago and the dog still doesn't like you, I don't think she will ever come to accept you. Don't sweat it though. The dog is 10 years old; she probably doesn't have that much longer to live.

My fiance and I have a rott. I moved in with him (and her) when she was 6. My fiance has already established that he was alpha out of those two so corrections were easy (he trained he to a 3rd degree companion dog lvl at 6 months). It took about a year for her to get used to me. Your BF has to establish to her that she is not supposed to do this. Disiplin with rotts is VERY important They are big dogs, and if they go untrained they can be VERY dangerous (that's how they have gotten such a bad rap, most of the bad things you hear are about untraind rotts). If they think they are alpha dog, they will do what they want regardless of what you do to detur them, and regardless of how long you owned them.

Try having training sessions in which both you and your boyfriend participate- you give her the treats and he initially starts training her, then you gradually start giving the commands too. She should warm up to you- positive reinforcement is a powerful thing!

You gotta be this dogs new boss. The dog wants to know where it stands in your boyfriends pack. So far the dog is above you. Dont be mean with the dog, just stern.
good luck ^ . ^

If she is 10 years old already you probably won;t have to wait much longer. I was fortunate that my rotty lived to 11 yrs.
