How long after being manually strangled does it take to get back the ability to scream?

This is assuming that the person being strangled does not die.

Thank you for asking this question otherwise I'd have never thought about the subject. My brother and I tried it to see how long it would take based upon your question. Unfortunately our results were inconclusive and I am now an only child. I'm hoping I can find another volunteer and try for a more conclusive result.
