As with so many questions on this forum, I gotta say, "depends."

Of course, some kind of fish is almost universal, but if one would accept fish as an answer, then one would have to accept "mammals" as another, and "birds" as another.

We all, obviously separate the mammals into, beef, pork, mutton, goat, etc. Then we'd have to sort the fish out into salmon, tuna, carp, etc. Same with birds, counting chicken, turkey, game hen, pheasant, etc as separate species.

At this point, we have not even begun to consider regional differences in cuisine. Americans eat beef, although prior to the late 1800's it was pork and fowl. In the Middle East, lamb and goat is popular, in the far Northern Eurpoean diet, reindeer is prominant while the native North American of the arctic regions, whale and walrus is a main source of animal protien, as well as fish.

And, as I already mentioned, tastes and preferences change over time.

By the way, FISH is meat.

Xaviercito, I don't like to eat meat. My family eat red meat, they it all the time. That kind of meat makes me feel so *****-ing fat, that's why I don't eat it.
