I have a CHI hair and I love it. my hair is wavy and thick, which any women knows can be a nightmare. It gets my hair straight, smooth and silky they are a bit pricey at least $ 100 but i guarantee it is worth every penny. I am sure that there are others out there that work just as well maybe even better but that is the one that i am familiar with. I hope that i helped

No flat iron is really good because it pretty much frys your hair lol, but i still use one and do what i can to moisturize or only straighten on certain ocassion. Yes, the CHI is a very well-known and good straightener.
one thing I look for in a striaghtener are that it's at least 70% ceramic, making it less damaging.
even though this isn;t exactly on subject, i thought i would sharre some hair advice:
Eating a healthy diet. Avoid or cut back on smoking, drinking alcohol, caffeine and foods that are high in sugar or fat. These are all bad for your body, and will affect the condition of your hair.
Allow your body to grow hair by giving yourself plenty of sleep and rest. Give yourself time to relax when you're feeling very stressed.
Buy a good quality brush or comb - avoid cheap plastic brushes.
Treat your hair carefully by avoiding any unnecessary brushing.
Limit the use of styling tools such as straighteners, hair dryers and hot rollers - these all cause stress to your hair.
Have regular trims to get rid of split ends and to keep your hair looking and feeling healthy.
Weekly scalp massages provide stimulation to the hair follicles.
Also do a weekly hair treatment to protect the hair's shaft.
Avoid chlorine and saltwater. If you go swimming, shampoo your hair as soon as possible afterwards. If you spend alot of time in the sun, use a conditioner that provides SPF protection.
Do not brush your hair when wet. Use a wide tooth comb and be gentle with your hair when it is wet. Do not rub it vigorously with a towel

Paul Mitchell's Smoothing Iron--by far! I have one myself, and I actually bought it instead of the CHI while I was working at Trade Secret...it has rounded edges, for one, that enable you to not only straighten your hair, but curl it if you so desire! Also, instead of just straightening your ends, you can curl them up or under if you want some body/interest to your style. It works very well--I buy quite a few Paul Mitchell products for my hair as well (that guy knows what he's doing, trust me). These are just a few reasons to buy the Paul Mitchell Smoothing Iron...I know many, many more reasons--just from working at Trade Secret and through talking to my friend (a professional stylist). Have fun with it! Good luck and God bless!
Oh, and P.S. NEVER straighten your hair when it's wet. This will damage your hair even more than straightening it normally will (also make sure you don't straighten too often--as a general rule of thumb because your hair will surely develop split ends and dry out). :)

Chi is the best. I also have thick wavy hair and this iron is the only one that keeps my hair straight all day.

i luv chi by farouk--it costs about $100-200
it works amazingly on ALL hair types, believe me; if you're willing to spend the money, you'll never regret buying it
a less expensive one that works very well is the remington wet 2 straight (about $24 at walmart); just dont use it when your hair is wet, because that is very damaging

Definitely Chi. If not that, try Vidal Sassoon.

I would go with a true Ceramic flat iron, not one that is just painted on.
