Good question and I did rate it as such. You are the second one who made me go to the dictionary today. Thanks for that for I did come here to enjoy and to learn something new.
Now here is my view only OK. You can have your own because I see many views from that word eccentric which I got from the noun "barmy'. To me maybe it is a point of view.
Now one Christian group may say this about another group for one wants to use and center on music in their services while another may want that fire and brimstone sermons. Another view is that an Atheist may say they are always talking about a God that does not exist when an Agnostic may say they are talking about a God who may or may not exist. And in another view a non-believer may say they are talking foolishness for there is no proof that even the Bible is true OK.
A lot of people just say the whole world is full of nuts and full of eccentrics and it can not be changed . So why not just eat, dring, and be happy with whatever you enjoy and just do what comes naturally.
Oh my friend there are so many views that your question is really tough to answer if one does consider the views of other humankind as a source to find the answer. Myself, I look to that name you mentioned in "Jesus"
I find no where stated that this Jesus said or hinted he needed an army. I do find he said all that do come to him are sent by His Father. So I guess all the volunteers did not really volunteer after all ha ha. Besides who says they are an army except maybe the Salvation Army which I am not a part of.[I mean that group that uses that name].
Oh yes of course history says there are many out there really fighting and killing for the sake of their religion and their God. What can I say. I just read about it, accept that My God Knows what He is doing and why and I just let it be for this is not my universe or my creation. I am just a piece of dust that has life and is only trying to enjoy for now, learn and to look ahead to the great change coming. Yes My friend I am very content and even smiling while I am answering your question cause you have to read it if you are this far already.
