I assume you mean "Sophomore" -- which can apply to the second year of High School or the second year of College.

The order is:

First Year -- Freshman
Second Year -- Sophomore
Third year -- Junior
Fourth Year -- Senior.

You sometimes hear the word applied to other things. A baseball player in his second year may be referred to as being in his Sophomore Season. The same applies to TV shows in their second year.

Looks like you have given me a riddle to answer. I like the question:
softmore may be a junior in high school planning their college career; realizing the future is going to be predictably easier once you pass the freshman year in College. The statistics usually show drop out is high at the College Freshman. But so far I can't prove it.

It means you are in your second year of a four year program. You can be a sophomore in high school (10th grade usually) or you can be a sophomore in college/university which means you are in your second year of a four year program.

It doesn't represent your total time in school, you could potentially be a sophomore multiple times. Once in high school and again for each degree you take at a college/university.

I hope this helps answer your question.

First off, it's spelled "sophomore" and it means you've been in high school or college for two school years.
